Gryphon 300 - one month later

Having had my Diablo 300 for more than a year I decided to give the Nordost Sort Kones a go. I experimented with both BC, TC and AC. With 3 as well as 4. The best combo in my set up was 2 BC on either side of the bolt holding the transformer. And then two TC at the rear left and right corner of the amp. In my room with my set up the bass became even tighter and deeper. This was easy to determine when playing Boz Scaggs song Thanks To You on the album Dig. There are some deep base going on after a minute and one could simply feel how the chest, the fabric on my clothes and sofa vibrated more with the Sort Kones - in comparison with out them. I also got a deeper soundstage, more 3D simply.

I think they have been around since 2011. The nice thing about testing audio feet is that it is easily inserted and removed. So you can repeat the session over and over again until you've come to a conclusion on how/if they work in your set up.

his comment below is exactly why the diablo is a def must audition!

"If there is a secret underpinning and meaning to this review, it is the sense of true human connection, and emotional release when the music is over. "

There are some people on the forum pairing it with Magico S3 mk2s. I understand that is a nice combination.

I have the S3 mk2 but am pairing them with Pass to great success.

Hi Blackbeird,

I have long been an owner of Gryphon and Wilsons. In fact, i started with CJ ACT2/Gryphon Antileon then CJ GAT/Gryphon Colosseum and now CJ GAT2/Gryphon Mephisto. I am a big fan of Gryphon and Wilson, and also know a few other owners across the world who drive their Wilsons with Gryphon. I have not specifically tried your combination, but given that after 3 different Gryphon components which had a recognizeable voice...your Gryphon/Wilson combination has tremendous potential.

Regarding powercables, i have not experimented much. I used to use the Gryphon VIP Ref 5 cable with my Colosseum...but simply because i happened to have 2 Purist Audio Anniversary cables...i use them with the Mephisto Stereo (which requires one PC for each channel).

Please let us know how it works out!

I am one of those with Diablo 300 driving S3 Mk2s (Hurricane PCs). Works very well for me.

I was too, and I cannot recommend that combination highly enough. I moved on a bit and split out the Diablo into the Antileon Evo and the Pandora, and it resulted in a step up. Or two. Was it worth it? Yes. But, bang for buck, I loved my Diablo.

Anyone here moved from PS Audio separates, BHK Amp 250 and BHK Preamp, to Diablo 300/120? If yes, why? My current speaker is Focal Supra N2. Thanks.

Only 2 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, 8 hours, 22 minutes, and three seconds, until I order my Diablo 300, Lumin T2, and Roon Nucleus from Mike. :celebrate008_2::congrats:

While the Diablo sounds great, it certainly looks a bit like the industrial designer had a hangover the day it was designed. But the truth is in the eye of the beholder or more accurately in ones living/ music room.

To me the DAGs are a little more easy on the eyes as well.

My wife loves the looks of the D300. That alone is a huge score! :yahoo1:

I have several hundred hours on my Gryphon Diablo 300. I've been using the Aurender N10 with it. The Gryphon Diablo 300 is absolutely superb. Phenomenal. Incredible. You really feel like you're listening to big ass monoblock amps and a preamp. Incredible authority and control. It has this chocolatey rich gorgeous seductive sound.

I LOVE THE SOUND!!!! ❤️

Ditto to all that!! :snicker: Cliches aside, a truly incredible amp in every respect.

Hi Kuoppis,

I personally find the Gryphon’s sleek industrial design very attractive.
