Hello All,
Long time lurker and first time poster here. Really enjoy readingin the conversations and such here.
I'm in the process of building a 2 channel system.
In the end it's all about enjoying the music.
Currently, I'm auditing speakers and just heard the Magico S1 Mark 2 at a local dealer connected to my Pass INT-60 amp.
For me personally, Magico has now been redeemed and now a top contender. Perhaps it was just the synergy with own amplifier and or listening to my music that did it for me with this speaker. Just listening via Tidal HD connected to an Aurilac Vega DAC.
Previously, I've heard the first gen S3,S5 and felt just no connection to the music. With the S1 Mk2 it was a more engaging experience. Perhaps it was the fact of it being a 2 way or perhaps a better synergy with my amplifier.
I've heard the S3 with Mcintosh Tube electronics and S5 with Ayre electronics. Just not my cup of tea. I've also heard the big S7 with flagship Spectral electronics in a large group demo.
The only other speaker left for me to demo is the YG Acoustics Carmel 2. I've heard this speaker before but, with a much different and higher end front end than I currently own.
It will be interesting to see what is the winner of the two ways connected to my INT-60.
Thanks
