As one who still has a pair of ADS L810's, currently being driven in a bedroom by an Onkyo TX 8160, I thought I would join this forum, at least to offer my experience and listen to the sage advice from others.

My High End audio began about 30 years ago with a McIntosh 4280 receiver driving the above speakers. Then I jumped to a configuration with a Theta Data Series II laser disc transport which played those 12 inch laser discs and was an exceptional CD drive as well. This along with the DAC by Theta Data, (both of which now are very large paper weights) fed to a Mark Levinson No.38 Pre and Mark Levinson No. 27.5 Amplifier, then into a pair of Quad ESL 63's, sitting on the Finnish Subwoofers, neither connected, instead a pair of Vandersteen Subs bing driven by internal amps.

The Quads self destructed, and for awhile I was out of the High End Audio.

About a year or so ago, I hooked up the L810's and began listing to music, restored my Yamaha P-750 Automatic turntable with a new Shure cartridge, and added a new
NAD C546BEE CD Player.

Then came the new Totem Acoustic speakers....absolutely beyond my belief.

Element Metal speakers, with the Thunder II Sub...... So, this is where my introduction pretty much ends, except for some other info, shoot Nikon cameras, travel with an Airstream trailer, and occasionally use the call sign K4MTL.

Oh, yes, historic railways, wonderful.

I look forward to at least some time on this forum.

Thanks

Hello and welcome

We have a few Historic Railways here in PA and one local Coal Excursion that goes from New Hope to Ivyland and back.

A warm welcome to the AS forums, Msmoto! I have very fond memories of the a/d/s/ speakers of that vintage from my college years, had friends with 710s and 810s. Totem's Element speakers are very nice with their superb custom built woofer designs. Glad to have you here!

Very nice welcome... and when I have 10 posts up I will post a link to 6,000 photos... all free fro the taking....LOL

And, as a moderator on a photography forum I understand the spam filter technique....:pirate:

Welcome to AS!!!

Always good to know there are others who seem to be caught up in the sound of music.. played over equipment which IMO is better than going to a concert, almost better than a symphony, unless one has front row center seats.

Do folks ever wander around and listen to other's set up?

My dealer in Greensboro has clients who I believe will be listening to mine at some point in the future.

And, while my mouth is running, i had never heard of actually breaking in speakers, or had forgotten, but, this seems to be so true for my new Totems... they have just become so wonderful, still very detailed but gaining the sweetness of tubes even though the driving force is anything but tubes.
