Got New DAC - MSB Premier

You completely missed the point. To get to the point, you can get an outstanding result without having to go to the extreme of the flagship DAC if the whole of your music ecosystem works in harmony with the constituent parts. Or putting it another way, the flagship DAC doesn't automatically achieve the best result simply because it is the flagship.

You missed the point. This thread was started by someone who just purchased the MSB Premier DAC. Your opinion about "not having to go to the extreme of the flagship DAC" doesn't belong in this thread IMO. You should start your own thread if you want to convince people not to go to the "extreme" of buying a flagship DAC. Your comments in this thread are the proverbial turd in the punch bowl.

Not only have you missed the point but you're reading too much in to it. There is no hint anywhere that I'm trying to convince people not to go to the extreme of buying a flagship DAC. Sometimes I wonder if Americans have a different comprehension of English to the rest of the English speaking world.

I didn't miss your point and you directly stated that you don't have to go to the extreme of buying a flagship DAC. In case you forgot what you just posted, here is your quote:

I would advise you to knock off the nonsense about Americans having a different comprehension of English.

The real question is what relevance this and your earlier post have to this topic thread?? You don't mention the MSB Premier, and it isn't even clear what you are trying to communicate. Are you advising readers to buy a DAC they have never heard??

Hi Guy,
Congratulations on your new DAC.
Are you keeping the D-10x as a CD Transport?

Congrats on your MSB Premier DAC! Terrific sound quality, build quality and company. I hope it brings you many years of enjoyment.

Ken

Some more thought on the changes and differences

Luxman D10X+Melco - Quiet, sound energetic, and directness (or whatever you want to call it), the combo has great attack and macro capability, accuracy, speed, and control.

MSB Premier - Quiet, a bit less dynamic than the Luxman (a bit more refined), a wider and deeper stage, the sound has a certain tendency forward, great resolution but still preserves thick sound texture.

Vocals are to die for, the ability to "dig" into the track without being harsh on the sound.

At the end of the day, these are two excellent converters that manage to produce very enjoyable sound in my system, a sound that will put a huge smile on every listener.

If I had to live with only one device, the Premier is my choice, as it holds the stick from both ends more perfectly (dynamism, super-high resolution, absolute silence, and musicality on the verge of analog magic).

Since the D10X is a combined device (CD\SACD), this eliminates the need to choose between, and both devices remain with me.
