Good speakers for 11w monos

Lmao!!! Perfect Bob!! Now were getting in my pricerange.
So do you think the waves would do well on something as low as 8w?

I actually know that the Waves work with 8 Watts. That is what Martin was using to demo them at a few of the European shows. 8 Watt 300b's.

Oh Yeah.....

BTW, I am sitting here waiting for Norman/Wisnon to show up! Should be fun playing Norman's DSD files through the Dac2x. I have the Ongaku driving the Waves for us to play.

Oh boy. You lucky dogs. Thank goodness overtime has been good lately :)

Have fun!

Oh sweet!!! That's what I like to hear!! Best part of that is if I get the amps, I can come hear the combo first. To buy the speakers isn't that bad but to buy the little subs that come with them definitely puts them over my pricerange. But I liked em so far both times I heard them without the subs. Or I can buy the subs down the road a bit.
Thanks for the replies guys I have a lot to think about.

Zu Audio, Avantgarde and Living Voice should be checked out, like others noted. Klipsch is another.

Also, Line Magnetic makes a sweet single driver called the 755EX that's a field coil speaker which is powered by separate 300B power supplies. I believe these are around 9K.

Then there's the Shindo Lafite which is another sweet speaker and is a little less than the Wave's at around 20K. :)

But I really think your best bet is the Devore O96. They've been getting lots of press lately and seem to be pretty fantastic for the price. If you listen in the dark you can't see them anyway!

Steve,

Wave 40 group buy? I really like them :)

Don't forget to check out Volti. Greg has a couple of models now. 9 watts would blast you out of the room with his Vitori's. Not sure about the other model....but I'm sure it would be fine too.

If you're interested at all with the Volti they are having a big price increase on the first of January.

If I had room, I would get the Volti. But they are just too big. Seems like most efficient speakers tend to be on the big side.

I really like my O96s. The look has really grown on me. I didn't much like their look at first.

Nice Doug I knew you would know a few!!

I'm not huge on the box speakers, I like the pmc's look but they aren't efficient enough. But I agree everything efficient seems to be very large.
I had coincident victories a few years back but never has SET's to run with them.
The older total victory would be a good match for SETs but again they are big and heavy!!!

While I was at Goodwin's the salesperson was singing the praises of the Devore's. Maybe worth a listen if you can get past their looks, Steve...

Remember Steve, high-efficiency speakers deserve better than solid-state. :)
Haha !! You know I'm only looking for efficient speakers so I can go low watt tube amps, either Sophia electric or manley 300b neos.
Mostly because they are the only 2 SETs that I have any listening experience with and loved em both. Absolares are out of my pricerange and I don't need that many watts anyway.

A lot of good speakers for low powered SETs have already been mentioned, but I'll second the Volti Vittora suggestion. I've owned mine for a little over a year and really enjoy them. As someone mentioned, however, they take up a lot of space.

Happy New Year from Dallas to all on Audio Shark members.
