Oh, oh oh, too cool Nelson. Now I'm getting a little ARC chubby again. And with my KT150's due for arrival today, it might be hard to walk around!
KT150 rollers, did you bias the same as your 120's?
Nelson, it's very interesting you are both a VAC and ARC dealer. I have a VAC SigMKIIa pre driving my ARC Ref250 and it sounds fantastic. I'm rolling 60's Siemens e88cc in the VAC so no slow colored peaky sound.
With REF10 into REF75, at 85-90 db levels I see meters move to maybe half way up the dial on peaks, but I usually turn off the lamps so I'm not distracted staring at them.
My KT150's arrived but were not a matched quad as TubeDepot promised, and one rattled a LOT, another rattled a little, and two seemed quiet. To their credit, TubeDepot asked that I send all four back for replacement. Those tubes are monsters, like an old c9 christmas bulb jacked up on steroids. Installed in the socket, the tube was right at the height of the cover which I am not using with the amp in the rack. With cover on, I would guess clearance only a mm or so.
Different strokes. I've always had good luck with Tube Depot. On the other hand I've contacted UA a couple of times and never heard back from them. Guess they don't need my business.Curious as to why you didn't buy your KT-150s from Upscale Audio since they do a good job of burning tubes in and matching them and the price is the same.

Sent from my HTC One.
I think you mistook me for the OP.Sounds like your luck ran out with your latest purchase. When I want to buy tubes from Uncle Kevin, I call Upscale Audio and start every conversation with "I want to place an order." It works every time. You may or may not have any idea how many tire kickers call up audio stores just to pick their brains and not spend any money with them. Some people go to their stores so they can hear something they want to purchase over the internet. Having a brick and mortar store is a tough gig to pull off now days.
Nelson - How's the amp breaking in?
Let me put it these way :
I'm selling my REF150 to a local client
Im that happy with the GS150
And is only less than 20 hours in it.

I think is going to take the REF5se spot as the best unit from ARC so far
