Furutech make some great bulk cable. FP-3TS20, FP-Alpha 3 & FA-220-50 if properly terminated & optionally braided with carbon mono filament braid will outperform many snakes out there. Even that snake co who is big on its research acronyms IMO.

FP-Alpha 3 vs FP-3TS20. My 3D sounding choice is FP-3TS20. Needless to say it is also shielded. As for being light on bass, not true! It needs longer burn-in time to reach its full potential. If you have humongous power amp requirements, you should be looking elsewhere anyway, because you got the money. Regardless, FP-3TS20 will do almost everything else. These bulk wires are perfect for the best home theatres too.

The FA-220-50 as an XLR makes for a very high resolution cable. It's brilliant overall, but can be slightly forward. Again, you cannot go wrong in a home theatre application.

Now, the truth is that there aren't many companies worldwide that draw esoterically high purity single crystal copper or silver for that matter. And the charmers are not really going to tell you where they source their boutique bulk wire orders from, are they... But, can someone at least please confirm whether Furutech manufacture their own PCOCC wire? (PCOCC stands for the Pure Copper Ohno Continuous Casting process)

Or do they outsource it from their former parent, Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd from which Furutech spun off from....

As of the end of last year, due to lack of worldwide demand, Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. has decided to discontinue the manufacture and supply of PCOCC including wire drawing and part of rolled products for application in the conductors of acoustic instruments.

So that will mean the end of that wickedly stiff solid core Acoustic Revive Reference & Oyaide Tunami PC etc, unless they can source it from another manufacturer.

If Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd were the only remaining worldwide manufacturer, it will be a sad day for the audiophile market if PCOCC was no more.... Perhaps Furutech are the only ones left & if so, many of the the exotic brands that we have grown to love & trust are or will be fundamentally Furutech bulk wire underneath the sheath...:disbelief:

Good post Steve. Someone had told me about a factory in Japan that produces the purest copper. I will try to look up the specifics. I believe Jeff from AV Solutions knows.

I wonder which snake charmers Acrolink supply. They boast about Esoteric being a big client of theirs....claiming supply of their 7N Mexcel products for Esoterics's component internals & PCs.

But that Acrolink OEM list of theirs is otherwise slim.

Some say that there were 3 high purity copper wire draw manufacturers worldwide. With Furukawa Electric gone, that leaves Acrolink & one other....Furutech?

Could the this the beginning of the end for high purity (7N or 6N) or otherwise known PCOCC copper wire?

Given that the world is going smaller & cheaper along with the growing trend of one box digitial & wireless IP, the way of the esoteric cable is progressively looking long term vintage?

Steve, if that's the case, the good news is that all the thousands and thousands of unsold cables on audiogon will finally get sold. :)

I'm most curious about pure silver (not a mix/hybrid) - but pure silver. My friend loaned me his WW Platinum 6 speaker cables and I didn't want to give them back. He paid $3k for them when the 7's came out and everyone was dumping their 6's. Lucky bastard.

And how much better are the 7's really?

Mike... I'm a silver man by heart. Good silver is hard to beat. The naysayers with the bright argument don't wash with me. :)

Can't say whether WW Platinum G6 vs G7 metallurgy has changed for the better. One thing is certain though, the G7 Speaker cables in particular, but also the ICs have undergone substantial geometric configuration changes. Their current Platinum G7 loudspeaker cables are amazing.

Probably even the Chinese fake ones too! :roflmao:
