I am in the process of commissioning the construction of some more bulk power cable to feed my system expansion.

When it comes to my tube amplifiers I use Siltech Ruby Mountain II G7. This is a no compromise ZERO emission cable. Siltech IMO are the holy grail of audiophile cable performance for many real scientifically proven reasons but they are expensive. There is real, quantifiable material science that goes into their construction.

So that is where the Furutech range with their PowerFlux and Bulk cable options are serious contenders where their products can give you exceptional performance at more realistic price points.

There are four important factors when it comes to power cables: Gauge, metallurgy, shielding, termination. The Furutech range considers these factors in their product line-up.

It is easy to choose a cable based on the first two criterion but often the third important element, shielding, doesn't always get the full attention it deserves. If you are commissioning bulk cable, I can promise you that you can get close to zero emissions by choosing to dress an already internally shielded cable with appropriate outer braiding.

Many will know that I am a huge Techflex fan. Techflex engineer some amazing braided sleeve solutions for aerospace, military, medical and AUDIOPHILE solutions. I advocate their products because they manufacture real solutions that have been scientifically measured, and independently verified and accepted by industry worldwide. Techflex has a long history of active participation in and support of a variety of industry trade groups. That means real verifiable science that anybody can objectively test for themselves.

To date, I have successfully used Techflex Flexo Anti-Stat (formerly called Flexo Conductive) to braid and finish Furutech bulk cable with results that rival emission level performance measurements of other off-the-shelf brands.

Yes, I have been criticised and ridiculed online for posting my opinion on this topic, but there is a real basis which is not founded on some proprietary shifting, pseudo-science marketing. So I take no offence by those who choose to flame my thoughts on this topic.

I am going to take this next bulk cable build one step further with a specification that will consist of the following solution:

1. Furutech FP-TCS-31 α (Alpha) PC-Triple C Power Bulk Cable
2. Furutech FI-50 NCF(R)
3. Furutech FI-50M NCF(R)
4. Techflex Flexo Chrome XC
5. Techflex Flexo Anti-Stat


Note the addition of item 4. Flexo Chrome XC. Flexo Chrome XC heavy duty expandable metallized mylar sleeve is ideal for dressing up any application with the look of braided stainless steel.

Mylar is well known for its EM/RF rejection properties. I use it to internally line storage boxes for long term electronic component storage. For example, if you put a phone in such a lined box, it cannot receive a signal. Similarly, in the event of an EM pulse, the electronics will be protected from damage. Those attributes in itself means something favourable for an affordable DYI or commissioned audiophile grade power implementation / solution.

So I propose to braid Furutech FP-TCS-31 α (Alpha) PC-Triple C Power Bulk Cable chord with Techflex Flexo Chrome XC first and then finish off by braiding with Techflex Flexo Anti-Stat over that layer before plug termination of choice.

I look forward to conducting a basic EM proximity radius reading on such a dressed cable and perhaps ZERO emissions are achievable to that of the Siltech Royal Signature products.

I merely seek an honest performance outcome for the benefit of the audiophile consumer and have no affiliation or commercial interest in the brands that I have mentioned above.

How will the solution affect the sound when used with and in proximity of sensitive HiFi equipment (interchangeably with analogue and/or digital component outputs)....That is the REAL question....

Should be an interesting comparison. Furutech and Siltech are both excellent manufacturers in my book. My Siltech cables are a dream - sonically and from a keeping any kind of noise out of the system.
 
Mike....I do enjoy both of these brands in my system targeted at points where they each demonstrate their strengths individually and combined in a larger aggregated system. Simply put, in a complex, selectable hybrid setup, it can make affordable sense to consider more than a single vendor solution provided the implementation is well planned and executed.

As such, Furutech bulk chord has a place. Especially in home theatre and commercial applications, a worthy choice.

I will also say this about both Furutech and Siltech. When you consider both of these brands as proven leaders, imitation is a form of flattery in the unkindest way.

My entire power system is in the best Furutech Nano (10 gauge not 12) bulk cable with the NCF connectors and receptacles (all designed and built by Scot Markwell (Harry Perasons old setup guy)). From the 75 amp wall mount Torus to the gear. I buy Furetech's bulk not because of price but because I believe it to be the best engineered power product on the market period. I am always open to enlightenment but it will need to be from my system and with my ears. That said, I have never contemplated the need for shielding beyond the wonderful design incorporated in the Furutech FP-S55N. I gotta read up a bit on this Techflex stuff but its hard for me to imagine how it can further improve shielding.
 
Paul...I'm not familiar with the FP-S55N. This must be the newest bulk Nano. If that is the case, that would be my preference also.

They made a limited release of the FP-S55N and FP-S35N (10 and 12 gauge) at the time of the limited edition Nano Flux NCF finished power cables. It is Nano treated OFC.

I bought the last 50 meters they released of the 10 gauge and 10 meters of the 12 gauge. I had 3 custom power cords made of tripled-up 12 gauge for my mono amps and preamp and used double 10 gauge on the 20 foot run in the wall to the Torus for the two mono amps. I used single 10 gauge on my other 3 runs from the wall to the Torus, all using to the new NCF receptacles.

Also the Furukawa factory that made Japanese Ohno stuff has discontinued it due to extreme manufacturing costs. Sadly, the famous Japanese OCC is no more! The newest copper from Furutech (they hope will equal the OCC) is this triple c forging you are using. They no longer make any 10 gauge wire, however.

In talking to Scot, he nor I were convinced anything will beat the performance of OCC so I bought 15 meters of the 11 gauge Alpha-3 which used OCC and is no longer available. I had Scott make all that into power cords with the new NCF connectors.

One thing you might consider, is searching to see if one of the supply houses in the US has either the Ohno stuff or the 10 gauge OFC still in stock. Scot has told me he does not. On the other hand, I am sure the triple c stuff will be awesome.

Can you provide some pictures of this assembly? I have a hard time understanding how a triple run of cables .75" dia (approx) each could be assembled into the backside of a connector body. Would love to see what Scot came up with for that solution.

Paul...Thanks, yes all my bulk has been 3TS20 until now. No more 3TS20 stock left in Australia. 3TS20 was an extremely well made chord. I'm also hoping this will be as good. Asked about a nano version of this wire, but they just don't know yet....

I suppose I could wait it out a bit to see if they will do this in nano, but it will be an inconvenience.

I want to repurpose/optimise some of the existing 14AWG for the 12AWG also.

Nice to have 10AWG, but really don't have a need for it as I'm covered by the Siltech there.
 
I gotta thank Vince Galbo for a lot of his counsel on mitigating power line modulation also. He and Scot both have tremendous experienced-based knowledge on this stuff.
