I've had an account for about a year, but this is my first post.
I'm a little confused about audioshark. I see many manuf sub-forums here.
So how is this different from the manuf-centric Audiocircle forum?

All forums have sub forums to keep topics around certain brands and subjects easily grouped.

Also - unlike pay-for-pay forum such as What's Best where you pay to have a sub forum. Additional whereas What's Best Forum admins will ban you for not liking one of their paying forum sponsors (several members here have posted about how WBF did that to them), you are free to have your own opinions here.

The forum owner here isn't on-the-take..

Hahaha. So true.

Even when the members here complained about seeing ads for a dishwasher or lawn mower, I removed those and decided to just cover the costs myself.

Hello & welcome

I feel the topics here are more explanatory. If you've ben hear a year and read the threads you should notice a different clientele. Not that anyone is better, just diffent. AC seems to lean toward DYI and more obscure electronics for instance. Take the "Solid State" topic on AC, it is very slow, not many new topics and lets face it "Solid State" is broad. AS has specific topics for preamps, amps, integrated, etc. AC has more diverse forums like "Open Baffle", forums for a couple different genres of music. If you have been on both sites I really don't see how you haven't noticed a difference.

AC has a big following of independent manufacturers. I find this a positive and unique to the extent AC has participation. For example, when Frank VanAlstine was alive he was very active in his own forum on AC.

In general, most sites are similar in layout. You just have to hang for awhile and see where you feel you fit. Which may be several sites. Which site tweaks your own interests.

I read your post again and it seems your question was more specific to the manufacturer forums, right? My prior post touched a bit on that.

The AC manufacturer forums are more geared toward the independent and direct to buyer brands for the most part. They receive more direct input from those manufacturers or reps. Not to say AS don't have input from reps, AS receives great help from Peter of Lumin for example, Genesis is a member, there are more.

I haven't been to AC in a bit I didn't notice any overlap in represented manufacturers between the two sites, not that this would be a problem. Isn't it a good thing that more than one site offers manufacturer specific forums?

I think if you read and compare the two sections you will see a difference.
