Finally got my Quadraspire racks set up tonight.

Welcome to the forum! Middle shelf and top shelf to right is bamboo. Rest is older version sunoko vent. Not sure about brass rings and lateral movement. My room doesn't create much movement.

Thanks for the replies! Mine may be the newer version with the brass rings. Thanks again for clarification. Yours is really a very decent set of gears :)

Dpod4,

I am new to this forum and found all your impressive gears sitting on Quad's Bamboo? Or Sunoko Vent?

I also use Sunoko Vent and by design, if you use the brass rings supplied with the shelves (so the two columns go through this ring and connect the other shelves), the entire rack should show some kind of lateral movement since the columns are not rigidly attached to the shelves (but to the brass rings). Is it your also case? Or do you take the brass rings away? I asked since you are using the rack to house very heavy component, including the delicate turntables. Any idea if the lateral movement (well, you won't shake it when you are playing the TT) / this degree of flexibility affect your TT performance - or you think the TT performance are great now?

I have a 4-shelf Sunoko Vent bamboo rack, but only use 3. To reduce lateral movement, we put the amp on the bottom shelf, tightened the rack (the brass rings are supposed to "float" the shelves- this is by design), and put the spikes coupled to my carpet floor on brass discs. Then a set of feet under the TT is mandatory (I use Wave Kinetics, but Aurios or Stillpoints would work well). TT performance is definitely much, much better. Still have a feeling for a mass loaded table like my Brinkmann, that a Box Furniture rack would be a more ideal piece.

When I first put my system together, I had the MC2301s sitting on the top shelf on a pair of 5 shelf Sunoko racks! Sure they swayed being top heavy at over 1m high, but these racks are designed not to be rigid. The racks coped fine. The rods should not be over tightened. Just torque by hand until the thread stops.

Levelling is most important for performance. The weight has to be distributed evenly. I use the QX7s under everything with a spike on a timber floor. Including all loudspeakers & stands. Love the QX7 isolation. The 2 piece floating alloy separated by the rubber bush is a no nonsense approach that really works & is reasonably priced.

What do you think of the bamboo? I am pre bamboo. I heard the bamboo is a little more livelier.

I cant hear a difference between my bamboo and non bamboo
