Feedback on a Possible system

I am sorry you feel this way.I did not have any interest in treading on someone's good name. For me I have been using this name for years unaware this person existed. It has a different meaning for me.Life must go on.
I hope to see more post from you on other subjects.

I'm very positive this will be my last post!

I'm just starting that process. I'm having a professional theater built. With emphasis on good sound. Currently I'm using a 5.1 system. Changed from two smaller subs to one big JL F113. Onkyo 5008 and Mark Levinson 533. These processors change so rapidly it is hard to keep up. The room I'm bulding is going to be somewhat bigger than the current one I guess I should consider 7.1 or 7.2.

Barry,

1. Pro home theater. ...Great!
2. Two smaller subs are better than one large one; so I HIGHLY recommend two subs (from personal and 'extensive' experience).
3. The Onkyo 5008 (Audyssey MultEQ XT32), I am very familiar with. The ML 533, no; are these amps?
4. If your room is long (length), and you have more than just one row of seats; I recommend a 7.2 setup (perhaps even a 9.3 one).
5. In-wall speakers are fine in your case (professionally build home theater room with acoustical room treatments & intelligent DSP Equing).

Yeah, 7.2 (unless your home theater is very long; thirty feet or more). ...Then 9.3 (with an extra big sub at the center back).
...Four side surrounds, and two rear surrounds. ...Treat your guests right! :)

I've listened to the S5 twice so far, one time was at Eastview in Toronto, and bass was never loose. I suspect you just want more and puchier bass than available by the S5, which is ok by the way. I'm wondering out loud if the JBL Everest wouldn't be your ticket, haven't heard them myself but aren't they big on bass and highs? At the end of the day it's your ears and your money, make sure you choose something that makes you and nobody else happy.

Thanks for the encouragement. The next speaker I want audition is the Revel salons. I'm going to have to do some homework the JBLs. Thank you for the suggestion.

ML 533 is a Mark Levinson three channel amp, 300 watts a side. For front three. It is hard to find a three channel any more.

I'm at the TAVES show tomorrow. I know the sound I heard to make that decision about the S5. It is still fresh enough I will confirm for myself what I heard. Judging from the number of respected opinions I maybe wrong. Tomorrow should give me a clearer understanding.I will report.
Barry

The Revels are a great speaker too....but the S5 is better IMO.

I also could have googled it. :) ...Thx anyway Barry.

TAVES: Toronto Audio Video Entertainment Show? ...Yep

Barry, are you part of the show (exhibitor)? ...Do you make your own speakers?
=> Check room #889 (Bill's room), and say Hi to him from me. :)

Just a simple attendee.
I will try and remember to say hello to Bill.

Paul, love them! Over and above of what I expected but I'm still in the discovery stage so I will post my impressions at a later date.

Enough hijacking Big B's thread, back to you Barry

A show is a nice place to review multiple systems but on average set up's there are below par. Do not make an unfavorable opinion about a component solely on a show audition.

Just my 2 cents worth!

Thanks Dan I'm on that page. I know what I'm looking for. I should be able to get past the distractions.

I went to the Taves show. I would like to say that I have a definitive answer as to why I think the bass is loose on the S5. The only thing I would say is I need to hear that speaker in a different location. For now I stand by my earlier audition of S5. The show did not display Magico or Wilson.
Did hear Revel Salon in a bad room. Also Devore O93 for the first time. They were one of highlights of the show.
I saw OLED 55". For those of us who think plasma is the best thing going now than OLED is the next step. OLED is available in 1080P but will be available in 4K eventually and that might be worth the wait.
