EV Cars

From what I have read, and going from memory here, EV cars create less pollution even when charged with dirty generated electricity. Also, the dirty electricity plants are slowly being replaced with cleaner electricity plants.

However, if it doesn’t rain out west then the smoke pollution from all the forest fires will probably exceed the pollution from EV vehicles.

Perhaps even surpass the pollution from all vehicles! My local air currently looks terrible. Usually, it's very clean.

Transportation and actual production of electricity are number 1 and 2 within a few percentage points of each other as far as greenhouse gases emissions go. If one replaces transportation to electric without addressing the pollution from electricity generation itself, one has accomplished nothing.

look at Volkswagen, MB, BMW, Ford,GM, etc.

China:
China has one EV veteran — BYD, or Build Your Dream — the Warren Buffett–backed automaker that has been making electric models since 2008. However, Tesla currently makes the best-selling electric cars in the Chinese market. Now everyone else is piling into the industry, from Chinese state-owned auto groups like SAIC to foreign companies like VW, from indebted real estate groups like Evergrande to tech giants like Tencent, Huawei, Baidu, and Didi Chuxing.

While it has already succeeded in building a fantastic auto that surpasses $M sports cars in performance, needs little service, and will have a very long life with low operational costs, it is actually an advanced software company. It is way ahead in Full Self Driving (FSD) and will be a worldwide leader.

"Please feel free to explain how EV’s make for a better future ..!"
It is clear that ICE engines are as advanced as they will get, but we can not continue to use them for all the known reasons! EVs are far more efficient in their use of fuel, and are clean. We now have the means of producing electricity without pollution or greenhouse gasses.

You seem to not know what a “Vig” is and worse , very little about ICE , not to mention Hybrids. Hybrids beat EV’s on every measurable metric except , the desire to want to own an EV ..!

Current ICE engines as delivered today are nowhere near their peak capabilities , we will be burning up to 4 times the resources ( read carbon foot print ) currently used to make ICE cars to do this ridiculous full on conversion, nothing done commercially on the planet works without Oil..!

BTW, Autonomous capabilities are nothing new , GM first shown one to the public back in the 50’s, men in black had them long before Wil Smith joined up .. :)

Toxic battery build and waste exceeds any and all levels put out by an ICE , which mind you are not yet using fully recoverable technology , give the same free funding to all car manufacturers, for them to do so and watch emission get to zero..

Politics via regulation and corruption makes them not affordable in a free market, ask VW who paid Billions in fines over emissions , after cutting off the Vig to our illustrious overseers , yet GM pays a slap on the wrist for delivering cars which killed many Due to faulty and known defective systems ...!

I was all set to go all in on a Tesla but I'm having second thoughts right now.

I see some issues when the batteries/vehicles are out of warranty. Sometimes they want to replace the entire battery pack for a somewhat simple coolant plumbing repair.

Contrary to popular belief, there is some maintenance required, although a lot less than the average ICE vehicle.

Joe, have a gander at the new Nissan Ariya

In a perfect world, the cars would not have to carry heavy batteries made up of rare elements that pollute the crap out of the atmosphere while being extracted from mother earth and need recycling and eventual disposal of very toxic elements. In a perfect world, the energy source would be built into the roads, the roads themselves would be electrified and the "personal transport capsules" aka "cars" as we know them today would contain the motor. Nothing revolutionary here, it's not like we don't have electric trolleybuses, bumper cars, electric trains that do not carry their own power source.

Perhaps in another half a century or so but in the mean time....

some companies are experimenting with electrifying the roads that can "recharge" the conventional battery carrying EVs.
