Ethernet switch box

It has everything to do with it. Your telling people an off the shelf switch fed with cat 8 terminated on premise (I assume) is just as good as a EtherREGEN with say and AQ cinnamon cable. I believe that is hogwash. So I say your leaving performance on the table. You then imply I have no knowledge of how to make it better. Well I do, as do others who have explained all the small parts and pieces that make up a significantly better whole. Your digital system, especially the steaming portion is not optimized. An optimized steaming system will come close to the performance of stored on rhe hard drive playback. On the hard drive will beat it. But it gets good enough that you stop worrying about where the media came from. Hard drive, NAS or internet. It all sounds darn good. Yes it cost more money. Maybe $2k to $3k to do an entry to mid level package correct. After that you could spend another $3k, but that is going to bring a smaller gain than the first outlay. And for how much money people are spending on DAC and servers. Many ponying up $20k to $30k or more, its foolish to not invest the $3k to set the digital backbone right.

I don’t own a switch, I have a router. I also didn’t tell anyone to buy an off the shelf switch to attach to their router. I also would never take advice from someone that can’t keep noise and hum out of their own system and that’s when it’s “working” at all.

Who opened the gates of hell? :)

Satan himself and he says according to his femto-clock, this thread is right on schedule to hand out the packets of serious tinnitus and 100 lashes with stock power cords to anyone continuing to fuel the flames under the molten audiophile-nervosa pot.

Not that you pay attention to anything I post, but my system is very quiet. For years people such as yourself said I have noise or ground loops. I spent to much time listening to your kind. I finally listened to myself and had Ralph look at my amps. He confirmed it was faulty equipment and repaired it. It was a big learning experience. One I have shared with a couple people who also have quite systems now.

I apologize for calling your router a switch. Your router will work better with a LPS. And it will all sound better with a EtherREGEN or Gigafoil separating it from your Nuc. which should be powered by a Farad LPS. If you do start listening to me, your digital will perform at a higher more satisfying level.

Sorry, I really can't take you seriously. First of all you don't know the difference between a router and a switch (as if a router will solve/immune to all the problems if it replaced a switch ;)) and secondly, you haven't shown any measurements......

:P

So much in this hobby is way above my paycheck. But to those with what seems limitless means, its a brag. My Bugatti is faster than your Ferrari.

What are you talking about Dev. A switch can't replace a router. A switch does not assign IP addresses. But a audiophile switch will add a layer of isolation and reclock the signal. A Gigafoil will isolate the ground planes where a lot of noise seems to reside. And it is not hard to hear a gigafoil perform a lot better with a LPS powering it. So will your router and modem sound better with a LPS replacing the wall wart.

And heck no, I don't waste my time on white papers. Others can perform the high degree engineering. I respect those people and let them shine at what they specialize at. I read what they publish, select what I feel makes sense, then I apply products and listen.

If more people trusted their ears and wrote from experience there would be a lot less confusion. Way to many armchair engineer think they know whats going on because their degree says so. But it's not always so in the real world.

And just to throw fuel on the fire. I have received files from people, one ripped from an average cd drive on a mundane computer and another from the same cd, but ripped off a hopped up disc drive via a purpose built music server. And what do you know. Both are bit perfect, but darned if they don't sound different. And guess which is texturally more complete and natural.

own an Ansuz A2 Ethernet switch box that has several low voltage outputs to activate D2, D-TS analog and digital cables. Does this switch box work properly for all types of my mentioned cables? Or do I need a low power box separetly? Has anybody experience?

We did a shootout of the Nordost QNET Vs the Synergistic Research Vs Netgear. There was no doubt at all that both the QNET and SR brought far more realism and transparency to the sonic picture. We felt that both the Nordost QNET and SR product brought the same benefits to the sound: greater transparency and realism. I have yet to try the QNET with the QSource, but I have one and can only expect another level above.

Do these switches eliminate or almost eliminate the sound quality difference between playing digital from local files and digital from a streaming service?

We never did that comparison. We streamed from Qobuz for the A/B/C comparison.

If you have the Ansuz PowerSwitch it will power your Ansuz cables plus act as a Network switch.

Not only will it do those two functions but it will also improve the quality of your network.

I have the D2 version of the Ansuz PowerSwitch that acts as my network switch and powers my Ansuz D2 cables.

Ansuz also make a power box but you don't need it since the PowerSwitch will do the job for you.

and you will get it!

i've had the Nordost QNET switch for 3 weeks, and the Qsource LPS for a week with the premium power cable. impressed with the QNET switch, and the power supply makes a significant upgrade difference. and then 2 nights ago i added 2 of the Qpoint resonance aligners (plugged into the Qsource power supply); one each under the Wadax dac and Wadax server........oh my! that's another step up and improved the second night. i've ordered a third Qpoint for my darZTeel preamp.

i'm a believer in this Nordost QRT gear.....it delivers.

no; they reveal a bit more differences (in my particular system) between streaming and files. they tear down the veils, open the windows. files are more clearly better.....but both are superb on the Wadax. i love the streaming performance.....but files are a little better. i'm not in any way disappointed by the streaming.

Great info, thanks Mike. Did you happen to compare to the Etherregen previously mentioned in this thread? That would be an interesting data point IMO.
