Esoteric N-01XD

Excellent. As you would expect from Esoteric. Can't say the same for some other brands, however.

I'm still mulling over in my mind how much better D1X + N03T might be compared to N01XD. Big price difference....unfortunately, I'm not aware of any comparative reports from anybody with first hand experience.

You don't use another clock when you use Mutec. You have an improvement of internal clock.
I have N01XD and I'm thinking to buy Mutec Ref 10. I hope it's possible to hear difference. I already know this new dac has a very good clock compared to old Esoteric not XD, but for audiophile people every little improvement is always welcome... :)
 
I am considering the n01xd and currently have the x1. My preamp is first sound which is not remote capable and do have the lumin remote which is a convenient feature.

My question to the forum, can the lumin remote with infrared capabilities work with the x01xd since they both have use same app?

Little update: we are some friends with N01XD (very good dac. I had Dcs Rossini Dac with Rossini Master Clock and N01XD without clock play in another league. Another friend had only Rossini Dac and he has same opinion. Third and fourth friend had Dcs Bartok and opinion is always the same. The fiveth friend had Marantz SA10 and his opinion is the same (he bought K01XD and not N01XD). Now we bought Mutec Ref 10 and all friends will try it in each set-up. For now only one friend tried and he is very happy because in his opinion there is good improvement compared to N01XD without Mutec. Now he will try also Mutec 120 SE and he will compare with normal Ref 10. Next week he will ship to me Ref 10. I'm waiting Shunyata Sigma v2 digital cable clock 50 Ohm. I think I will have in 20 days.
Only curiosity remains for me... what's the difference of performance from Mutec (price about 3,5k) and external clock Esoteric G-01X (price about 27k) ??? I never will not know because is too out of budget.

I tried the Mutec Ref10 120 SE with my N-01XD. For about five weeks. It made zero difference. I returned the Mutec. And stopped looking for external master clocks. I was pissed my ears were not sophisticated enough to hear any difference, but it is what it is. We all hear differently. Oh… clock cables were Shunyata Sigma, so yeah, it cannot be the cables

This is could be a good news for me. If I will not hear any difference I will be happy because I will save some money.
Ps: for curiosity, what digital cable bnc e powercord did you use on Mutec?

Surprised to hear that. My g02x made a big difference. I hear that cybershaft is the best way to get even greater performance.

One thing that helped me immensely was room treatments. For a while, I had very little treatment and I was struggling to hear a difference from the clock myself. After fully treating the room, I could hear lots of things I could not before. Now, when I turn off my clock sync, it is very obvious.

The digital cable was Shunyata Sigma Clock. Power cord I don't exactly recall, but it was a shunyata too, either Delta NR v2 or Alpha NR v2, or Venom NR v10, I am not sure

Yeah, we all hear differently. My room is fully treated. For a while now. GIK difusers, absorbers, bass traps, etc. The whole thing. side walls, back wall, front wall, even ceiling

Whatever the latest one that puts out 10mhz and has a separate power supply. I think it's the op21a? I think it is only available from the factory. Mike is using it with his esoteric gear.
