Mark and I were talking this morning. We were talking about how nice it is to have a flight case for the Lampizator GG. We were thinking, you know what, given the prices we are paying for gear at this level, there is no excuse that the gear doesn't come in a flight case.

I've found flight cases for $150 online.

What do you think?

I heartily agree. Especially when you are talking about 5 figure components.

I love the way Dagostino uses them too. The protection is so much better.

I would always pay for their actual cost, if the manufacturers would just pass it on. I think it would be a plus for the manufacturer too, less risk of damaged goods when shipping to dealers or customers. if a manufacturer ordered them in bulk, it shouldn't add too much to the cost.

Someone should ask D'Agostino what his costs are on cases. Or ask Lampi, their cases are amazing!

Elberoth posted about this either here or WBF a few months back and gave prices. Bigger cases cost more, of course.

Its a great development!

It's not just the protection, having wheels on flight cases makes moving those heavy amps and pre-amps around.

Dan, i beleive the point is that they want all the expensive gear to come in Flight cases.

Yep. I agree. Verity has done this for years with excellent quality cases. Last year, before sending my nagra T to Nick Doshi for head wiring, etc., i bought a pelican case for it with pick and pluck foam. These things are indestructible and good value.

my Trinity dac came in a very nice Pelican case, double boxed and padded inside a cardboard outer box. which I appreciated. little foam cutouts for all the stuff is a nice way to go. it's also nice to know I have it there for any return shipping for repairs or upgrades without worry as to the case's condition in the future.

Just bought a flight case for 99 bucks for a Alto Clarinet cheap protection it was called a sea horse case water proof solid case. Big case too

I would hope that all five figure+ components come in flight cases.

My point was Decware thinks enough of their products to offer fight cases as an option.

I wish other manufacturers did the same thing.

We definitely think they are a great idea and have been considering bringing them to some of the other dacs in our line up, not just the flag ship, but I just want to point out that the cost significantly exceeds $150. Especially when you get into customization and branding.

Still a very worthwhile addition IMO.
