End of the road DAC

Well I guess I will have to start at the beginning of this thread. Was there a consensus?

Consensus on what ? Or better yet - between who ?

So far I'm the only person that owns the Trinity DAC. And yes, it is simply fabulous.

a consensus on "the end of the road DAC", I guess we have a consensus of one :audiophile: Party at Adam's :eyebrow:

Would love to hear one of these things. Perhaps I'm lucky since it looks like the only US distributor is in NY (far far away to save me money  ).

I am a Trinity owner as well (pre) and the dac is on order with Audioarts. I
listened extensively to the dac with media server/transport and it really is sublime if
you like ultimate purity and natural sound. After I recover (and wife forgives me), I
will go for server. The half the price CH Precision which we compared to (and which I
own) had a similar quality but not quite as unforced as the Trinity. Also demo'd Zanden
and AN dacs elsewhere which showed me I am over tubed dacs....

Thank you a big bunch for sharing, and please feel free to elaborate further.

This is a subject of high interest for me and others.

Cheers,
Bob

Just found one. Betters Vivaldi and MSB Diamond DACs big time.

That is all for now.

Adam

Congrats on your new DAC....sounds like you are greatly enjoying it

can I ask how you make the claim with regard to the Vivaldi above if later in this thread you say you have not compared the two. I know you had the old DCS stack but the two are different. Don't get me wrong, I have read many of your posts here, WBF and AA and respect your insight and have enjoyed your journey. It just seems like a very few of the same people have blitzed not just these forums but many others around the world with unbridled claims of enthusiasm...We all know that this hobby is subjective not absolute. There are many great products out there....I prefer some over others but in all cases realize it's my personal preference and never use the hyperbole that instantly reduces credibility. With respect to all of the hype over the last few months by a small group and even smaller group who have actually heard the DAC....all I can say is wow

again no disrespect....I know you provided honest feedback on the Trinity server. It all just seems a little over the top

in full disclosure I do own the Vivaldi and I will try to listen to the Trinity DAC if I get to NYC as I am always up for new things. If I do get to hear it I will report my thoughts

keep it real...

I have heard the Vivaldi countless of times, as one of my closests audio buddies owns one.

I admit, I didn't do head to head comparo in my system as other people did, but I have compared the Vivaldi to MSB top of the range stack and found them close enough to belive those who claim that the Trinity beats the Vivaldi. The gap between the Trinity and MSB was just too big.

Anyway - please have a listen when you have time. You may change your mind (with regards to the buzz, not sound) as I did.

BTW - another of my friends who heard the DAC has bought one. He is a long time dCS user - he owned the Elgar Plus full-stack for many years (since itroduction ~ 2002), than changed to Scarlatti. After trying the Vivaldi, MSB Diamond full stack, Metronome C-8, Audio Note DAC-5 Signature - he went with the Trinity.
