Kraftwerk, Yello, Art of Noise, Thomas Dolby, Portishead, St Germain, newer Sarah Jaffe, Phantagram, Thievery Corporation, Air, Bassnectar, Chemical Brothers,
The Knife, Fever Ray, Sylvan Esso, Marian Hill, London Grammer, FKA Twigs, Caribou, Supreme Beings of Liesure, Boards of Canada,
The XX (I especially recommend their latest album: "I see you")
Jamie XX ("In Colour")
Paul Kalkbrenner (my favourite album is "Berlin Calling")
Fritz Kalkbrenner
Royksopp (some of their old songs are my all time favourits; their last album "The Inevitrable End" is though quite nice and has perfect sonics: loudspeaker manufacturer Tidal played their song "Skulls" at the Munich High-End fair ;-))
Motocitysoul ("Technique")
Nils Petter Molvaer (has made lots of good Jazz-Electronica albums over the years)
I was actually thinking of starting this exact thread, so thanks to @EmiLiuZ for doing so.
+75% of what I listen to is electronic, so I'm excited to see what others bring to the table. Definately see some stuff I'm familiar with, as well as some names I don't recognize.
I had some folks over last night and we listened to a couple of albums from Romare, the new Bonobo - "Migration" and Fink's "Horizontalism".
Pet Shop Boys - most is recorded great
Big Yello fan here...
Malia - Convergence = fantastic
Front Line Assembly - Tactical Neural Implant (this begs to be listened to loud if you dare...it is visceral)
Nine Inch Nails
Nitzer Ebb
KMFDM
Depeche Mode
Ministry
Tears For Fears
Talk Talk
New Order
Electronic
Crystal Method
Peter Murphy
Bob Mould
Will post more when I look thru my CD collection later.
p.s. KeithR: Underworld - Underneath the Radar LP has always been a favorite slab of vinyl of mine, purchased in 1987 or so....sounds really good.
Many good suggestions here but Electronic music spans such a wide range of musical styles and indeed the suggestions thus far span quite a range already. Is there a specific style or genre within Electronic music that you are trying to explore or are drawn to? Or better yet, do you have any examples of EM that you have heard/listened to and liked and you want more similar suggestions?
Yes great thread, I like them all, funny my daughter is really in to it but calls EDM which is more dj based stuff like Bassnectar but still still enjoyable
