For a power cord to breakin quicker does it need music playing for the component it is used on? Or does the cable breakin at same rate if component is in standby or on and playing music?

I find power cords break in faster when there is a lot of current running through them. I have read some folks buy an adapter to use on a refrigerator. Problem I see with that is refrigerators cycle on and off. But when it's on they do draw some heavy current.

I use these to daisy-chain power cords together for break in. Only requires one lamp or piece of audio gear to burn in multiple power cords. $5 compared to "audiophile" versions from some audio suppliers. I poke fun. They are the same units but the price from audio sources is triple or more.

They even make a double if you want to get fancy. But a cheap power strip or other adapter plugged in would also allow multiple lamps or equipment to be connected.

Also available from stayonline: 20A, right angle, and short power cords with adapter ends.

I bought an adapter years ago . Plug in to my dehumidifier and turn it on to constant . Dehumidifiers draw a lot of current

I just install them, and play music. I want them to break-in with the gear they are powering. My feeling is that gives the best results. But, who knows? :)

I usually connect them to my toaster for a week or two, I find better results by toasting rye bread .......
