I happen to be in the right places at the right time, twice.

Couple that with my familiarity designing similar electronic hardware architectures (due to my engineering background), bringing these up to date was successful, time consuming, and worth it.

I have two 810’s and can relate. They are like keeping a classic car running properly.

Dre, beautiful machines. I need to make hirez full size copies of the A80 or A820 printed on cloth to use as dustcovers for my ATR-102s. Larry

True. but once the restoration is done properly, standard tape deck maintenance is minimal.

After I completed all of the service bulletin updates to all of the electronic hardware and then reprogrammed all of the multiple EPROMs (UV erase and BIN file programming) for the many embedded microcontrollers that handle control logic in the A820 with their latest firmware, I haven't had any issues with these particular units going on nearly 4 years. They just keep working.

HA! That's funny. If you manage to find some, let me know. Maybe you can get a multi-purchase discount. I can use a couple to cover my daily workhorse Otari MTR-10 and my little portable Stellavox Sp7.

I haven't ordered it either. I'll take a look. I did buy the Audio Nantes vinyl reissue of the BIS La Spagna. Never played it against the original. Winston Ma did a reissue on CD of the Cantate Domino. I have it somewhere.
