Does anybody have the Magico A3 speakers?

So how this he said she said is going to help the OP?

If you don't like this speaker tells us why and if you like this speaker tell us why, don't make it more complicated than it is, I was about to pull the trigger on this one and now I am back to square one. I cannot tell from this thread if A3 model of Magico is any good and or is it worth the higher price that it is.

And if you have any other suggestions for me to look at please let me hear it, what else is out there in the price range of Magico A3?

I think with Magico you always need to consider what you are going to surround the speakers with. They are very revealing and the old adage crap in, crap out applies here. I also sometime find Magicos performance a little paradoxical. I like tubes from the midbass up but like solid-state amps to get the “most” from the lowest octave.

I thought that under show conditions that the A3s acquitted themselves very well with the Constellation amp. There is no question that the A3 has that Magico DNA. Especially if you like transparency, dynamics and resolution.

Thanks Peter. On the other topic, I’ve heard numerous not so complimentary comments about demos at this location. I wonder why? Did you get any indication? Was it the associated gear? The rooms? It’s puzzling because the A3’s and M3’s sound amazing.

I listened to the A3's at Goodwins, and then in my home. My room is MUCH more "lively" than Goodwins' audition rooms. I vastly preferred the A3's in my own home; they were a little too tame at Goodwins but not at all at home. So I ordered them.

OTOH, I listened to the Devore Xs at Goodwins and really liked them, but got them home and realized they'd not work in my room. Thankfully, Alan let's me bring speakers home for short auditions, as listening in his rooms isn't a great predictor of how speakers will sound in my too-lively living room.

EDIT: I'm from Boston but not part of any Boston gang. :yahoo1:

Thanks for the additional info.

Best to start your own gang anyway.

Mark, there is a succinct difference in me saying "described internally" - which does not imply consensus and does not specify who said something - vs. a hypothetical "we all internally agreed", which I would have written had there been internal consensus on the A3. Peter has never expressed an opinion on the A3, since he hasn't heard it. The problem with quoting just one post and then proclaiming "already pass judgement" (your words), is that it paints an incorrect context, and leaves out all the praise we have given to other Magico products over the years. It is what it is, but do take everything into consideration, since you happen to know the history on WBF, and are apparently still reading it.

I appreciate your clarification and we will leave it at that and move on.

I have demoed the Magico A3 and Focal Kanta 2 and I am really liking the sound that Magico A3 produces.

Are there any members of this forum that own these model and how do you like them and have you compared them to other brands.

I have a pair, which I bought after considering many options, including Focal, Dynaudio, Sonus Faber, Elac, and more. I go to Axpona every year, and I listen to *everything*. I love a lot of things about the A3's, including their detail, tonal signature, speed, and, especially, the way they just disappear in the room. I have not heard any ported speaker with bass that I personally find as pleasing. Speakers are a very personal choice, but, for me, the A3 is spectacular.
