Did anyone get a pair of Magico's today !!

Wow, S5's and VAC Phi 200's. Well done Mike. Happy Christmas! :)

I guess you were a good boy this year Mike! Congrats on all the new gear.

S5 speakers. They don't look imposing. For some reason, I thought they would be bigger. I wonder how they would sound in a 18x24 room, and about 3' away from the back wall, which is brick.

I bet pretty darn good! My room is 45' x 15' with 12 foot ceilings.

Bud, that's a good size room. They would sound awesome in there!

Congrats Mike, would love to hear your personal opinion on an S5 vs Alexia comparison once everything has been broken in.

I'll let you know after 1000 hours. Right now it wouldn't be a fair fight.

Good to know. I am thinking a buying a home in Maryland to retire, and that will be the room for the stereo. Should be nice in the winter. Speakers with a fireplace between them. The alternative to the S5 will be the upcoming Sasha W/P 2, or something else capable of playing soft and loud in a big room.

I look forward to hearing the W/P 2 myself. S5 vs W/P 2 - depends in no small part on your amp preference. If it's Mcintosh, don't even think twice. W/P 2.

Mike, now we need the VAC thread! Are you planning to keep them on the Alexia's for a while? I'd be interested in how they compare to the Dag's once you get about 300hrs. on them.

Doug, that will be very interesting. The Dag amps are very dynamic, punchy and fast. The VAC amps are wonderful sounding too. I've just put some NOS tubes in the VAC amps (yes, I couldn't wait!). Vocals are big. A slight loss in dynamics over the stock tubes. But the NOS tubes are very warm and romantic sounding.

I have to try vinyl....but the Lumin is sounding so damn good, I haven't bothered.
