DeVore O/96

Shark, gave a very good answer regarding 20.7s. I would only add a few points. I have heard 3 other 20.7 setups. You would be amazed at how different they sounded from each other. The biggest variable among the setups IMO is the room and speaker placement. In my setup, I'm in a 19 x 31 x 12 room with moderate room treatment. Smaller rooms can be problematic, especially in odd shapes. My system also changes its character completely with an analog source vs a digital one. An inescapable fact about our hobby is the higher resolution the system, the more it will drive you nuts trying to get it just as you like it.

Having said all that..... If Magnepan asked 75k for them, I'd still buy them.......

That's awesome

Is there anyway to duplicate these magie posts in the magnapan section? Such good info that I would hate being lost in the Devore posts.

I still think you should check into the Reynaud's. They will give you the warm sound you are looking for and Bob Neill gave up the Harbeth's and Spendor's for them. Plus the pricing is much more reasonable. Another alternative is the Audio Note's.

Jack...I remember your post about the Reynaud's however I do not have any luck to find them to audition. :(

Paul, it all depends on what your fuses are, the jumpers are made of, your cables/ amps /pre/ source etc. The Maggies to me are one shade into warm from neutral, I love detail so I went with solid silver jumpers from the mid to treble, which can lead to a shrill treble with some recordings, so silver speaker cables were no good in the mix, this is why I will move to copper speaker cables. The long & short of it is you can tune them with the rest of the gear/synergy to make them sound however you wish. They are very revealing of what is upstream.

I will stop by AudioExcellence next week.( carries the Magnepan and Wilson speakers ) will try to listen to them one more time. :)
