Dell Laptop..Music front end

So I am really close today to pulling the trigger on a spare laptop (11") for a music device - $299 with a touch screen, 500gig drive, full windows...

I am currently using my windows surface and I have 3 laptops and a desktop (lol) but I would use this exclusively as a music server on my main rig. why not the Surface tablet like I have been ?

Its a great unit but 1) It is an RT meaning not 100% windows (can't load every app like full windows) which should not matter.

2)Its 32gb and I added 64gb more..which SHOULD be enough ..I don't know ...just like toys...

Hey Rob - whatever laptop you end up getting, since you plan on using it as a dedicated music server I would strongly suggest that you optimize it according to some of the available online guides for such applications. Two excellent ones that I can point you to for the Windows 7 OS are: Sweetwater's PC Optimization Guide and Genesis' Absolute Fidelity Music Server. Hope that you find this helpful!

Holy Cow...even better...not as compact but more features....I just tried the code...it works !! $299 for that is a steal...touch, DVD RW, Plenty of ports, built in media reader...just wish it was smaller...

What ever you decide to get I would replace the noisy HD with a SSD. Big difference in SQ.
