D’Agostino M400 monos are absolutely wonderful ...

A.wayne - I do like your posts, when I can understand them. Have you read Steven Pinker’s book? I suspect you have a lot of expertise and a lot to say. I just wish I could decipher it.

Thanks!

How do you like the Ref 10 with your Progression monos? I'm trying to be good but find myself thinking about the Ref 10 or similar. I love my Luxman but can't help myself.

Joe,

I thought long and hard before buying the Ref 10. When I first received it I had still had the Theta Prometheus monoblocks that were sold and replaced by a pair of borrowed Momentum M300 monoblocks. They had to be returned to the store for demos, so I borrowed a pair of ARC Ref 250SE monoblocks. I understand what is meant by synergy as those two worked very well together. I just can't see replacing so many tubes. Now finally the Progressions are permanently in the system and loving every minute of it. The Ref 10 with the Progression amps gives you an unbelievable three dimensional soundstage with layering front to back. Vocals have presence and air around them on well miked recordings. The overall presentation is smooth from top to bottom with just a hint of tube like playback but with more slam as both the ARC Ref 10 and Progressions are known for bass reproduction. I myself love it as I feel it gives you the best of both worlds. I am very pleased. If you do hear the Ref 10 in your system you won't send it back I can pretty much guarantee that happening.

Well Joe I am blaming you and Mike (Ritmo) for deciding to move up from the original Momentums to the M400's. My Momentums are currently the oldest piece of gear in my set-up. I am going to try the black ones this time around.

Thank you very much for your reply. Your response is exactly what I was thinking about what the combo would be like. I am still recovering from the amp purchase but I’m hoping for a summer purchase. The Ref 10 is high on my list.

I’m so happy for you. What a great system you have assembled.

Joe, you might just consider a MSB dac running direct to amp.

Two upgrades with one stone (and very significant at that). There are a few Dag owners doing this.

One of my favorite amps, congrats. I have heard the momentums with the dagostino pre, would love to hear them with AR.

That's been crossing my mind as well. Mike is absolutely in love with his MSB dac (which is absolutely out of the question for me). But they do have more "reasonably" priced ones I need to look at and hear.

Nice! I never honestly thought these amps could actually be in my system. Huge upgrade for me for sure.

Jim - You will not regret the upgrade. Keep us posted!

Awesome! Congratulations Jim.

I love the look of the black/copper amps. You will not regret the upgrade. This is an absolute no brainer.

I wanted to buy a pair of those so bad! Not happening after buying the Ref 10 and Progression monos the same year. You and Jim are very fortunate.

I see some things havent changed, Joe is still trying to own every amp on the planet. :D
Congrats and enjoy!!!!!!
