Thanks for posting this! I will be calling in a prescription of Chloroquine tomorrow to keep handy in case I come down with this virus.
Anshul

Hydroxychloroquine is almost certainly more effective (and definitely less toxic) than chloroquine; however, you probably will find that both are (already) in short supply

Covid-19 problem is: no resistance in the immune systems, no antidote. Therefore, currently no cure (1 - 1 1/2 years away).

You either make it through your internal antibodies, or then not. Kids might not have symptoms at all, young adults could have a mild fever and cough, older adults probably regular flu kind of symptoms like, muscle pain, fever and dry cough, elderly and people with pre-conditions are in danger.

We have a modest sized residential weekend coming up for a small charity , of course no one wants to go because of the virus . but unless the UK govt issues guidance banning these events we stand to lose a fair amount of money which folks can`t really afford to lose .

That was my concern -- so I did not waste any time. I called in my prescription to the local Costco pharmacy and will have it ready Monday morning.

Don’t you need the prescription from a doctor?

Hadn’t seen this map before. It’s everywhere, talking about community spread.

To prevent this from happening timely testing would have been necessary to be able to isolate early cases. Now people have been out there distributing it freely. Oh boy.

Exactly. US was offered cheat code by China, S. Korea, Italy (not to mention Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore). And it was mindbogglingly ignored completely.

Lack of availability of widespread testing has impaired the Western countries ability to respond to and contain this epidemic. It may be the most significant difference between the experience in South Korea and that of the rest of the world. What is more amazing is that it still isn’t happening and probably won’t happen soon.

this is like pearl harbor, but franklin roosevelt knew the about the attack 3 months in advance and did absolutely nothing in preparation or in defense.

Not to mention it was offered a working commercially available test by WHO, well before the CDC's test was ready, and it was declined.

People always make light of or find excuse for incompetency as if there’s always someone waiting in the background to fill the gap. IMO that is the single most important quality needed in our leaders. US’s race to the bottom in dealing with Covid-19 outbreak is a prime example. I’m praying there’s still tiny window of time left to flatten the curve enough so that our healthcare system is not overwhelmed.

BTW, in 2018, entire Pandemic response chain of command was fired to save money.

Exactamundo.

Just watched Gavin Newsom's press conference on the 12th of March. CA had, as of that date, 8227 tests for a state of ~40,000,000 people.

Also, some of the local state labs had a no. of kits to do the RT-PCR detection step of the test, but CDC did not provide the RNA Extraction reagents required to extract the viral RNA to be able to actually do the RT-PCR detection step.

CDC drops the ball once again...

Found this on Facebook. Sobering.
