I like Lislevand’s Nuove Musiche on the ECM New Series.

Will try after this has finished:

Lots of 20th century influences on Weiland’s String Quarters (DSCH, ....) but still a nice discovery and a perfect example of the sort of thing I never would have encountered without Qobuz/Tidal.

Edit: the dam pix were there in the draft.

Hi Parker,

Yes, the pictures disappear when we post them.
All Qobuz pictures in the music threads have disappeared, but I thiink Mke is working on it.

Actually, I copied the pix from Presto. The PITA aspect is that when going back and forth to Presto I have to sign back in to AS for some reason ...
Like the Sainte Columbe. Good call!

Hilary Hahn, Bach Concertos. Really lovely, light-footed and delicate play.

Interesting thing is that when I bought the vinyl there was a CD in the sleeve as well. It was not even mentioned on Amazon it’s included.

Excellent, with terrific sound.
Playing these orchestral pieces with a chamber ensemble gives a clarity and transparency that I adore.

Very very enjoyable.
One of my favourite versions of this symphony... :music:

Hi folks, I've been away for a while. Anyway, this is a wonderful binaural DSD256 recording. The realism and detail are astounding.

Rachmaninoff's 3rd PC Abduraimov pianist. Saw him live coupla years ago doing this and he gave great performance. Amazon has CD RCO19003

A very interesting Vivaldi recording from super-violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. The 15-member ensemble are all playing period instruments, which can be heard nicely.

Beethoven late quartets tonight... Op 130 Bb at the moment, with the later-extracted Op 133 "Grosse Fugue" to follow.

The Julliard Quartet, Columbia

have spent the last two weeks listening to the catalogue of cellist anja lechner

i really like her recordings with piano as the only other primary instrument -- here are my favorites so far with the melos title being listed as a jazz recording.

I see that this thread has been dead for a little over 5 years, so let's try to resuscitate it! I enjoyed this new recording this morning.

Francisco Correa de Arauxo.
Tientos.
Libro de tientos y discursos de música práctica y theórica de órgano intitulado Facultad orgánica. Alcala 1626, de Herares.
Patrick Bismuth (Violin, Viola, Viola da spalla). Louis Thiry, Organ, Reconstruction in the style of the 17th century by Pascal Quoirin's workshop, Meantone Temperament, Pitch= 440.
Recorded, 2011, at the Saint-Jacques Parish Church in Mont-Saint-Aignan, France.

These works by de Arauxo I never heard before, and that surprised me quite a bit. Despite the title of these works, they ooze tons of unscientific unpractical emotions. a fine interplay between the organ and the Violin, Viola, and Viola da spalla, in which the Bourdon 8' and the of the second keyboard, and the Bourdon 8' of the first keyboard play a great role, not to forget the Cromorne'8 and Human voice 8'. The Viola da Spalla is an instrument I like very much and fits in perfectly. I have a jolly good time with this recording. I am also quite content with the sound of this organ, a good balance and expertly tuned. Both musicians are great advocates of these works.
