* Can't go wrong here, unless someone knows a better version (LP, SACD, Blu-ray, etc.).
...And we have various music composers here: Faure, Mendelssohn, Franck, & Schubert.

P.S. Click on the small picture cover for the larger version.

Felix Mendelssohn - Lieder ohne worte - 3 Gondellieder (Venetian Boat Songs)

No. 6, Andante sostenuto in G minor, op.19.---No. 6, Allegretto tranquillo in F-sharp minor. op.30.---No. 5 Andante con moto in A minor, op.62

Pianist: Peter Nagy

Mahler: Symphony No. 4 - Ivan Fisher : Budapest Festival Orchestra

Ivan Fischer writes of Mahler's masterpiece, "There is a unique purity and transparency in Mahler's 4th Symphony. The enchanting sleigh bells take us to his inner child, to his dreams of angels, fairy tales, angst and pure, divine love. This child-like symphony needed a different orchestra: no dark tuba, no heavy trombones, no large arsenal of massive brass. A chamber orchestra in fact, where the clarinets act as mock trumpets, the solo violin tunes his strings sharper in order to scare us and the lightness of the whole orchestra lifts us up to his lovely, childish vision of paradise."

I'm simply in love with this music.
More pure and raw emotions is hard to achieve I think.
2 viola da gambas only, but boy, what do they convey!

This is heavenly music, and in heavy rotation here.
Excellently sung, it includes 3 world premiere recordings.

This is a lovely box.
It has 6 CD's with Bach's Overtures, Brandenburger Concertos, Harpsichord Concertos, Violin Concertos, Oboe Concertos.
All this is played marvelously, and very well recorded too.
A big thumbs up! :audiophile:

I've been listening a lot to Shostakovich the last months.
This is the first album in a series of SACD's that covers the complete string quartets.
A good way to dip into his very special world. Sounds good to!

I am listening to and watching a BluRay disc of the music of Gabriel Faure - that is absolutely incredible.

Faure Requiem
Orchestre de Paris and Choir - Paavo Jarvi, Conductor

Right now I'm viewing/listening to The Cantique de Jean Racine in D Flat Major, Op. 11 that is so beautiful it will give you goose bumps.

Thanks Julian!
This is interesting indeed.

PS. How is it like to be a JUNIOR member?! :D

Schubert's String Quartet for me is one of the most beautiful pieces of chamber music ever written.
The Tokyo String Quartet plays it in a subtle, delicious way.
The adagio is another goose bumps piece (like the one Julian posted above).

Rotating (CD) ::

* Thirty-one years ago, a classical music recital was taken place in San Francisco;
and this guy gave a good live interpretation of some of the best music composers (in my book), with a p.i.a.n.o. ...This is my type of classical music where I feel relax at best. ...No question asked. :derf:
...In particular Chopin's music. ...Just click on the picture cover for music samples.

And, exactly how does the "world's oldest audiophile" escalate up the scale to "member" status?

How are things way up there Bart?

Do you get nose bleeds from being at such high and exalted elevation?

I'm rather afraid that I'll develop a bad case of vertigo if I climb that high too fast!

Julian... :roflmao:

Sorry, the pic is way too big...
Splendid box set of this wonderful composer, who deserves to be more popular.
With one of my favourite musicians on the viola da gamba: Hille Perl.

Right now | More p.i.a.n.o. music | Nojima playing Liszt

Everything set in "Pure Audio" mode (player and preamp). ...Analog connection selection (CD medium).

* Dynamic, yes it is! ...You have some of the lowest and highest notes here from the piano. ...And some very delicate passages, and others tumultuous.
We all know this "audiophile" recording, but to revisit it in the moment present is to live it in the now. ...With verve and delicacy at the same time. ...Being impregnated from Liszt music by Nojima's interpretation/playing with pure magic intensity of both extremes.
