Saint-Saëns Symphony no. 3 “Organ”.

45 rpm Reference Recordings Mastercuts, half-speed recorded Prof. Johnson recording.

Very nice dynamics and massive organ depth, no loudnessing on this record. RR is typically a good choice in that respect.

The beauty of this symphony is that it combines romanticism with power, lots of power, and depth.
I think this is very well conveyed by this recording (performance and sound).

this is one I have been enjoying

I adore French harpsichord music, especially Couperin and Rameau.
Rousset plays with a delicate yet precise and decisive touch.
This is simply delicious music, albeit for acquired taste (I understand that not everybody loves the sound of an old harpsichord :D).

With these recordings which mark the launch of the Stradivari collection, discover the unique instruments lovingly preserved at the Philharmonie de Paris's Museum of Music: the finest examples of the art of instrument-making which, like the iconic harpsichord crafted in 1652 by Ioannes Couchet, are given a new life thanks to the skill and commitment of its keen conservators. When this 'national treasure' is entrusted into the hands of an expert like Christophe Rousset, the magic is evident. As the sumptuous sonority of Louis Couperin's music is revealed, poetry meets fantasy.

This is a fantastic work.
Good sound and performances here, but I still prefer my older version (I have it on CD):

The piano is a bit forward in the mix, but it's nice to hear the thousands of notes that both composers wrote! The playing is magnificent.

I love this recording! Too bad it isn't an LP or a DSD SACD to preserve the warmth and beauty of the analog original (a new recording, no less, not something from the 70s!). Still, it sounds wonderful.

This ought to set purists' hair on fire! I think it works quite well, especially if one imagines it's a recently discovered score.
