Cable cooker

Does anyone offer "cooking" services for cables already purchased? I'd be interested if the service was priced reasonably.

That could be interesting, how much would be a good price to pay as long as it really does improve the sound? I might like to have a go at it.

I have a Audioharma cable cooker, I think ver. 2.5. I think it really does work. I'll post a link when I can. They made some changes to mine like a bigger frequency sweep. The one the Nordost dealer uses is supposed to be maybe even a little more powerful.

+1

I have the 2.5 with the "expanded frequency sweep" (EFS) and I can say that the effect does accelerate the break-in. I also think that the EFS does does more to improve the cable performance than an accelerated break-in. It conditions the cable with an extreme operating condition for extended durations that far exceed a normal audio cable's existence. This conditioning seems to contribute to the "naturalness" or "ease" of the signal transfer. I have also compared this "electronic conditioning" to "cryogenic conditioning" and a combined effect conditioning. Sending a cable 2-3 times through a cryo treatment has beneficial results. I think the cable cooker is more effective than cryo conditioning. Best results were perceived with a 3 times cryo run and recommended conditioning duration on the cable cooker. The difference was noticeable but incrementally small compared to just "cooking". This is the case with copper or silver cables. Some folks have said that cryo'ing silver is a bad idea or a null effect. Perhaps this is true for their assessment example but, cryo'ed silver and the cable cooker were noticeably better than stock. I have done about 15 cables on the cryo/cooker cycles and about 50 cooker-only cables. These were my observations. I have also "overcooked" some pure silver cables. They came back to life after about 5 days. The bass is usually weakened for a short period just after a hard "cook" but is superior once settled. YMMV

Hmm, I'll take mine medium rare. (Sorry, wrong thread. And as Nelson might say, Bwahahaha!)
