CES 2014

It was good to see and hear James Tanner's Bryston Middle T ($4,500 for the pair) full range speakers in an elegant natural cherry vinyl veneer. The 4 Ohm speakers were powered by Bryston's 28BSST amps, and digital sources from the BDA-2 and BDP-2 digital player. The new Middle T features two 8" woofers with the 5.25" mid-range and 1" tweeter. I also liked the out-rigger adjustable spiked feet.

I will honestly say, this is the best sounding Bryston speaker to date. Tremendous depth, rich and transparent. The room offered a wide soundstage.

Very worthy of consideration for one of the best speakers I've heard today.

Thanks again for blowing or minds at the CES Show

Hi James,

Neither of us has gotten home yet, but we were so blown away by your demo, that I decided it would be foolish to wait to own a model T pair, in black ash please.

By the way, does T stand for Tanner?

Thanks again for entertaining Joy and me.

Best,
Marc

Hi James,

it's great to see such positive reviews, well deserved! To this day I still have audio lovers inquiring about the 28's and I only have positive things to say, marvelous amps :)

All the Best in 2014, the responses from this show alone speak volumes and a nice beginning

In previous years, Bryston and Thiel exhibited together, since their products did not compete. Now they do, and so they abandoned their large ballroom section for separate rooms in the tower.

Bryston did very well, showing its $4500 Middle T speakers.

They sounded excellent!

The sound in the Bryston room at CES 2014 was in fact fantastic!

I can't imagine anyone being disappointed by the sound in the Bryston room.

Narrowing down the best demos is always a tough task. It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison. And the room environments make the reproduction of quality sound almost an impossible job.

One system that was really impressive included Bryston’s new Middle-T loudspeakers driven by 28B-SST amps and its popular BDA=2 and BDP-2 digital music player and DAC combination.

CES 2014: LOUDSPEAKERS UNDER $15,000

Bryston's James Tanner shows off his new Middle T loudspeaker

Bryston1.jpg

Bryston Ltd., a revered Canadian manufacturer of quality solid-state electronics has now branched out to offer a range of loudspeakers designed entirely in-house. The upper level models are collectively known as “T-series” models while their smaller siblings are called “A-series” models. We listened to the middle model of the T-range called, logically enough, the Middle-T floor stander prices at ($4,600/pair).

We were very, very impressed by how well Bryston has done with its first ever foray into the loudspeaker category.

Mimicking the virtues of Bryston’s electronics, the Middle T demonstrated neutral voicing, very fine imaging, and exceptionally robust dynamics.

Last, but certainly not the least, I was treated to some truly potent two-channel music in the Bryston salon, as James Tanner revved up his Middle T floor-standers.

Powered by Bryston 28B SST2 mono-blocs.

If Robbie Robertson’s ‘Somewhere Down The Crazy River’ with its heart stopping drumbeats is any example of what to expect, then be prepared for something special with the Bryston speakers that does not require a second mortgage to own.
