this is the blue note records promotional video for their tone poet reissue series. fascinating video with lots of great info. several things in particular stood out:
1. don was of blue note went to joe harley and kevin gray of music matter jazz to produce the tone poet series ...and, from what i can tell the process, materials, etc. that they used are pretty much exactly the same those used for the MMJ reissues. for anyone who knows, i would love to know where there are any differences in the making of the two -- as well as how MMJ and tone poet LPs sound in comparison the each other.
2. in the original releases, RVG would bump up the upper-mids and roll off the low end so as to create LPs that were suitable for the record players and amplification of the era. these adjustments have been eliminated from the re-mastering of these new releases providing a truer representation of the tapes.
anyway, fun video - enjoy!
