Best SET (300B, 845)?

Geardaddy...thanks for the compliment on the Grail amps...they are very special.With the new Psvane WE 845s / WE 300b tubes they are even more special...Anyone nearby is more than welcome to come and hear them..

Hi,

All I remember was that Mike flipped out when he heard the LA gear several years ago. I think it was a little difficult to come by and he went nowhere with it. It took him a long time to get over that sound. I am sure that today, he will still feel the same way.
 
While I have not heard many SET's, I was totally enamored after my encounter with the Coincident Frankenstein 300B monoblock amps. Such tone and what a soundstage with reach-in depth. Plus they are "real world" priced.
Not sure how they compare to some of the others in this thread.
And as always, the choice of tubes will change the sonic signature on any of these amps.
 
Which are the best 60 - 80w SETs? I know KR and NAT and Silvercore (304 TL valves). Any others?

I guess you could check out Wavac. I like the Kronzilla - but I'll pass on the tube replacement cost. Honestly, I don't understand the high power SET game though.

I'd aim for a 20-25 watt 211/845/PP 300B amp if possible to open up your options considerably. Check out Audion which is local to you. One of the fastest SETs out there.
