Best High Efficiency Speaker for the Money ?

I'm starting to think about a second system for the downstairs room in our house that's being built in Georgia.
The room will be 25' by 20'. 10 ft ceilings. I want something that will play pretty loud,and have a big sound.

I've never owned any Tube amps, and I want to try some in my second system.
Buying used would be my preference.

Sizeable room for a second system- pair of almost new Zu Def 3s on the 'gon that would be perfect on the cheap. Active bass will really help that large room, but you will need 20+ watts imo.
 
On the cheaper side probably some older Klipsh would be great. A little less efficient but some old JBL L300s would be fun too.
 
On the very inexpensive side, a pair of Altec Valencia can be had rather cheaply. Might be too small for you though.

Next level up: A used pair of LaScalla's modified by Greg at Volti.

Next level up: One of the speakers in the Spatial audio line

OR

A pair of Line Magnetic 755 EX's with a LM 219ia integrated could be heavenly.

Mark...help us out with your budget range. Also, it's clear you mention you want to use tubes to drive them but as with their SS brethren, tube amplification has many different types/flavors/topologies. I am assuming you are leaning towards low-powered, SET tube amplification given your request for high-efficiency speakers, but please confirm that is the case. Also, remember, while high-efficiency is one required element when looking at low-powered tube amps but equally if not more important is an impedance curve that is flat(tish) and stays above 4 ohms, and preferably above 6 ohms across the frequency band. So that will also determine a speaker that is optimally designed to be driven by tube amplification.

The speaker brands that come to mind: Zu, Living Voice, DeVore, Abel and Cain, Coincident Technology, Sonist, Vaughn, AudioKinesis, and Merlin off the top of my head. Obviously Shindo, Line Magnetic, Klipsh, Volti in the more vintage mode of speakers.

Happy to provide more specific recos and info if you give us a little bit more on budget, intended use (full range with all kinds of music or only to be used for jazz or small orchestral or chamber classical music, etc...) and again what type of tube amplification you are thinking about.

i love mikes idea of older la scalas or even a nice pair of klipschorns . modified by volti would be incredible.
i been looking for efficiency as well and am looking into the spatial halogram m1 turbos, for $4k. im also looking at zu soul supreme around the same price, and like some of the vapor speakers too. alot of them have a listen to them for sometime deal and if you dont like them send em back. i know zu even pays for the return shipping.
hey mark you should try to get a pair of raven 300b's or any of his amps for demo he is right in texas and he seems like a nice guy. i wish he was around here.lol.
youve said around here that you like the klipsch sound Mark, modified la scalas would be awesome.

Cyril, I really don't have any Idea what type of tube amp I will end up with, I honestly don't have enough knowledge or experience to say.
Music that I listen to is mostly Rock,Pop,Blues.
Budget is maybe 5-6 thousand for speakers and a tube integrated.
I have been thinking about maybe getting some older Klipsch model and having some mods done to it.

I'm leaning that way Steve. But I wanted to hear from everyone that has experience with this type of speaker.
