Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but....

What would be your idea of the best looking system?

Here's mine:

Mike-I agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but after looking at your choice of speakers, you need to get your eyes checked. They look like two armless aliens.

I love the look.

What speakers do you love for their looks?

I think the Marten Coltrane 3's look pretty fair with Vitus amps :)

Magico M3, all Raidho Diamond series, Vandersteen 7 MK2, Magnepan 3.7 and 20.7 and most of the Sonus Faber models.

This was my demo system 15 years ago, which I lived with for 10 years, always loved the look.

Difficult question. Depends a bit on the room. But I have always loved the look of Wilson Audio speakers. Not the HUGE models but the Sacha, Watt/Puppy, type speakers. They come in wonderful colours.

Or the Blumenhofer Grand Gioia.

For electronics maybe Aavik, Jeff Roland, or Symphonic Line or maybe Dan Agostino, only in black, and no gold.

If only he would get rid of the VU meter.

I think that elegant looking systems in pictures many times involve very clean minimalist set-ups. even the right color schemes. and then there is fully mature large scale systems that somewhat abandon that simple look in search of ultimate performance.

but this thread is about 'pretty'.....here is a very elegant system to my eyes......but I see little treatment so don't know if it sounds as optimal as it could.....

http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?20891-gian60-system

and this picture looks better with the electronics powered on....

http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?20891-gian60-system&p=423169&viewfull=1#post423169

there is no treatment for the gear resonance control, and no consideration for center imaging with all the gear there.

but it's pretty.

maybe Ked could comment on it as he has heard it. could it sound better with attention to those issues I raise?

I like some of your choices Mike. As some of you may know I have very recently turned my attention to analogue/vinyl. Until now I didn't consider how beautiful turntables can be. While I am happy with mine, I cannot stop thinking about the grail turntable - Mike has been singing its praises for years!! - and now I really appreciate the beauty and design. In a word...KRONOS!
