I glad I learned of this new product offering now. So, I'd like to clear up a point about the USB sans sound card. I have a Metrum Hex with the Amanero Technologies USB card. Up until now, Antipodes DS or DV or perhaps the new Aurender N100 were my final candidates. The BDP-1USB is a compelling wrench in my decision.
Your position is:
SOUND QUALITY When used with a USB DAC the expensive custom audiophile sound card found in our BDP-2 serves no purpose. The BDP-1USB eliminates this cost and saves you money with no sound quality penalty.
Are you implying that, if I chose the Antipodes with its SOTM sound card, it would be a waste of money? At least the fact that it has the SOTM sound card?
Finally, and a tough question I know. My current setup is:
QNAP HS251 NAS (with LPS) >> SOTM SMS100 (with LPS) >> JRiver MC19 >> Metrum Hex with Amanero USB could I evpect an improvement or should I put the $$ into something else?
I like your price and I'd rather keep the $$ in the North American labor market, buy I'd pay the Kiwis or S Koreans if they have something worthwhile.
thanks,
Richard
