Balanced Big 7 in the house

How about someone who has listened to both in the same system.

All I know is regardless of S.E , Balanced or GG ... You are on right track  whatever you are getting .

I have a single end version of BIG 7 and I'm not remotely interest upgrade to G.G or any other DAC. Yes It's that good.

Ken,

Mine is balanced and Bruce has single ended. In different systems, I don't think there is a huge difference. His system sounds amazing as well as I think mine sounds amazing. Since your system is single ended anyway, I'd opt for the SE GG, better parts, some upgrades and slightly wider tube choice.

Paul,

This is great news! What tubes are you running with?

Hi Joe,

My Soulution 520 preamp has unbalanced inputs (both XLR and RCA). However, there is a phase splitter at the preamp outputs and it runs balanced to the 501 mono amps. So I may benefit from the balanced B7 or GG but probably even more if I run directly from the DAC to the amps fully balanced.

Hi all,

I have been running my Lampi in for about 1 week now and I can report that the sound is getting meatier, not that it was short anyway. Cellos and double bass have that woody full body heft like a fat full bodied Rioja - delicious. I have noticed that I am not spending much time looking for tracks but just sticking an album on and taking the whole lot in.

My friend of this parish, Bonzo, suggested the Totaldac USB cable - I can confirm that the synergy for my taste is spot on. Very relaxed, spacious and weighty sounding. I can highly recommend it unless your system is a bit too relaxed already.

i have the Phillips Dutch military spec 5u4g, which I think had mixed reception on wbf. I have noticed that it is quieter and more resolving than the stock recti - no drawbacks for me and I am contented for little investment. I do want to purchase the most 3d liquid one so if anyone has any suggestions for that presentation, I would be grateful. Thinking of trying a Marconi u52.

Just back from a weekend away seeing an audiophile buddy with audio note Es and custom built amp. Anyway - I brought the big 7 with me and what an epic sound we got in his room. Soundstage just all over the room, rich, dynamic, musical. He was truly startled by what he heard. In fact he said he was annoyed that it sounded that good as he was certain that no dac could sound that musically engaging. I think he is badly lusting over one now :D.

Hahaha

Next time I am in London, I will try to get a listen. i am yet to hear a Bal DHT Lampi.

I did warn him not to listen unless he had dosh ready but he wanted to so I indulged him...
He was about to buy a Rega rp10 and now that purchase has been frozen.

Hehehe.

Warning, this opurchase will be injurious to your financial health.

On 2nd thought, I dont want to hear it now…Just paid the tax man an obscene settlement check. LoL

Hi Guys,

I`m still renewing my system to new level. I recently upgraded my system from Pass Aleph X (DIY 60W AMP) with Pass Aleph P Pre to Pass XA60.8 and Pass XP20. I`m quite happy , but ….. yes but. I need some more Midrange bloom and little more sweetness in the upper band.
I was first looking at Lumin S1 , and the lighting strike me with the Lamizator reviews from Mike ( nany thanks for this ) and other ones on the net. And a big plus for me that I’m living in Poland so to get this amp for listening will be no problem at al.
I`m now reading that the Balanced version of this piece of hardware is the better one. Can anybody confirm this?! And what about the gain-level , should I get one with the gain possibility and put the Pass XP20 on the compare-Beatle ?

What are you thinking ? And those 300B Tubes, I love their sound, but how about the durability and the prices?

I would definitely go with the balanced version. If you can swing it with the preamp built in, it doesn't hurt and gives you options. As for 300b's, they will definitely give you the bloom and sweetness you crave. Which ones? That's the $64 million question right now. It really comes down to experimentation. You might find yourself delighted with the stock 300b's.

Keep us posted.
