I emailed the local SoCal Focal dealer on Tuesday morning to specifically audition the La Scala v2 loudspeakers that Mike has raved about. He replied back within the hour that yes, they have the full Utopia line for demo (and not answering my question). This same dealer was responsible for the Focal/Boulder/Dagostino large room at the Newport Show fyi.

I replied and asked to have the La Scalas with D'agostino integrated set up for demo and let him know my current rig (to let him know I'm a serious guy). I tried to schedule an appointment for next Tuesday as I will be in his area that afternoon or on Sat. the 15th if that doesn't work.

No response in 3 days. What gives? No wonder people like to shop at Shows on online now.

i've never had to make a phone call to setup an audition time/date. that's so 1988.

Damn I thought you guys have a better service/dealer in state. I guess im lucky to have Mark , Adrian ...etc. No bad experience at all

I know that calling maybe 1988 but Jason the owner is an awesome guy to deal with and he is very knowledgeable. I have purchased most of gear from him
I will pm you his cell

+3...call the guy and I am sure you will have everything set up in less than 5 minutes. The dealer may just not be tech-savvy and prolly does not check incoming email queries.

then mods, please delete this thread. don't mean to bother anyone nor need to take grief from people who clearly didn't understand that email communication was initially used by the dealer in question and to save people time.

perhaps, i'm being too particular- but when someone is interested in demo'ing a 30,000 speaker, maybe I have an expectation.

ps. I left him my number in the initial email

No Keith you are perfectly OK to express your chagrin-- I'd give the dealer wide berth--seek elsewhere and good luck in your quest

Point me to one Audiophile that hasn't been shafted by a dealer at some time in the search for nirvana !

Sorry but this is stupid. Perhaps a spam filter got your email. Perhaps his server crashed. Perhaps a staff member opened the email and it got deleted by mistake. Maybe he has had a personal issue and was unable to get to his emails. Who knows.

Seriously pick up the phone and make a call. Then if he blows you off come and bitch about it.

If you want the personal service of a demo then make a personal call. If you need to do it all via email buy the speakers on line.

Spot on with your comment.

So 1988 email is little better than a party line of old. I have 10 companies and I have a policy of no orders by email no changes to orders by email. emails are to easy to get lost deleted or any number of other problems.

I use email but to run this dealer down on a email is not right. What a dealer can do for you is keep you from buying a high cost speaker that does not fit with the rest of your gear. that is worth a phone call. You buy it on line or at a show and it does not work out then sell it on line for half.

A good dealer is someone who will tell you that is a great piece of gear but not for your system or room and here is why. Good dealers should not care about this sale but care about all your future buys. I know 9 times out of 10 I am good enough at sales to close the deal. I just feel it is more important to get the customer what they need. But that is just me return customers are my pride and joy. I am not in Audio sales by the way.
