Avantgarde Duo Primo

That's great. My Duo's (also grey) are getting on in years - about 12 years old (close to 100 dog or audio years). I may have to give the Duo Primos a listen. Grey is better than fire engine red, but they still don't disappear into the room. My wife usually doesn't notice changes in my system. She didn't see when I got Acoustat 2+2's and then Quad ESL63US Monitors. However, she did comment "Aren't those new" when I put in the Duo's. When I added the three additional Solos for center and surround, she didn't say a word.

So the Duo Primos might go in without her noticing, especially if they are grey!

Congratulations, Howie! Look forward to your thoughts when you receive them.

I recently heard the Avantgarde Uno Fino driven by a Silbatone 300B SET integrated with Silbatone DAC105 DAC. Sublime, with fantastic dynamics (micro and macro), scale, palpability and no compression. Amazing really and hopefully my next upgrade.

Thanks. I am looking forward to getting them. It's gonna be sometime in Feb before I see them though.

Hi.
I have listened to all of Avantgarde Acoustic's speakers, including the Duo Primo-s.
I do not recommend any of them for several reasons:
1) I feel the size of the room they need must be _very_ large for them to sound OK.
2) They miss details in the music.
3) You do not want dynamics in music to sound like gun shots: It will imply listening fatigue.

Excellent! Congratulations Howie. Enjoy them. Can't wait to see photos.

Did you really have to post these ???? since OP just pulled the trigger on them.

With Respect.

They will be here the first week of March.:woot:

Congrats Howie! I think they are super cool speakers.

Whaou, DUO Primo associated to a CH Precision DAC and the Audio Note electronics should be something just fantastic.

I really love the CH DAC ; one of the very best in the world. And soooo smooth. Excellent for high efficiency speakers.

Enjoy !!!

They have arrived and I had the honour to see a clip (and some pictures) taken. Think he's currently in UK (and I am too, just that we are in different part of Britain) and should be writing when he's free about his experience with them. I did not know my Mezzo's had such a great impact on him to make this change from Coltrane II. Oh well, I "spent" his money.

Thanks, Jerry.

You are really a bad influence LOL :) :)

I suppose we all are, .. somehow .. someway. Wife, (and I used only a singular term to best describe mine) always would be the best INFLUENCE. To buy or not to buy ... and like "Bringing Up father comic strip .. violating would have the term "you insect" be used on me. What a bug!

Lets wait for Howie's sharing. I am anxious. Who knows he might be the one to spend my money later. Honestly, I am looking at Wesminsters GR. Really sounded good. And imposingly HUGE!

Cheers!

LOL - you are real horn-y; jumping from one horn to another. Btw, where did you get to hear them. Audioline carries but doesn't display or demo them. Kondo SE Asia (Adelphi 3rd or 4th floor) has a pair of SEs on display with their Kondo amps.
