Auralic goes belly up

They’ve pulled them out. Massive dumping of stock going on. Heck, I may even buy some myself.

Like I’ve said, Mcintosh needs a completely new sales strategy. Complete overhaul. Too many folks stuck in their ways of 1985.
You are correct Mike. Too many owners stuck in past and refused to change their business models. I often visit different high end audio forums and blogs and nowdays there is hardly mention of US brands such as Avalon Acoustics, Spectral, Ayre Acoustics, Eggleston works, Conrad Johnson, Joseph Audio. Wonder whats going on with these brands.

Just curious why Mcintosh dumped massive amount of stock? I mean couldn't they take it back and send it to high end retailers? Mcintosh is in high demand brand.

Hi Ben - my perception - and I'm not saying it is correct - is that Mc is like Klispch Heritage speakers: they have an older dying customer base and the demand just isn't what it once was.

They also both seemed to have strayed from what made them popular: Mc has been coming out with some weird products lately, and Klipsch Heritage has been jacking up the price while lowering the quality (I say this as someone whose owned several of their Heritage lines).

So I'm not sure there is enough demand for all that gear to get sold. I think that's part of the reason they went into Magnolia to begin with: bad management.

Just my outside perception looking in.

Based on posts on some of the FB audio pages Klipsch is still popular. Mac also still holds their own. It seems to be represented pretty well here as well.

For sure.

My perception is that it is popular with discussion topics and people who own older models, but I don't seem to see many buying new one.

For instance with Klpsch people largely seem to be talking about owning older models or upgrading the parts in their older speakers. Rarely do I see anyone that has actually bought a current model.

Just my perception but certainly I could be wrong.
