Audioshark - making it better

Mark, I absolutely think it's a great idea that the manufacturers come here in their own respective sub-forums & give us the insight that couldn't be found elsewhere & also think of it as a sure sign they support & have a passion for their products.

Kev, when Mike was dreaming this place up, and was talking to Joe and I almost daily, he talked about having a place where respected dealers and manufacturers could connect with people all over the world.
I wish more would chime in. I'd love nothing better than to have people like Nelson Pass come here and share their visions with us.

Mike,

How about making the forum images in posts visible to visitors and members that are not currently logged in? (like the other forum does)

Visitors may have an idea of what the thread is about and are more likely to join.

Additionally, due to professional and personal reasons, I don't login every time I visit a site I'm a member of unless I'm responding to a post or creating one.

Hope that helped,
Dre

Don't you think that would discourage people from joining? Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free? We need to encourage people to join and PARTICIPATE!

No I don't think it would at all. It didn't stop you or me from joining other forums in the past has it? I'm not sure I follow the logic of your response but that's ok.

OK guys, I'm willing to put in a bit of money in development costs to make Audioshark.org the best forum on the 'net. But I'm looking to you for suggestions. What would you like to see different? Tired of the layout/colors, want something new? Would live chat be cool? Do we need more manufacturer forums? Less? Do we need more topics on fancy watches and Ferrari's (just kidding...)?

Going into 2015, I want to continue to make Audioshark THE place to be for high end audio.

Let's hear some suggestions....

You asked for suggestions on thoughts to make the forum better and I gave one. Nothing more nothing less.

Yes, I joined in order to see the pictures.

If I'm busting my tail taking photos at shows, I in turn hope people will join to see them. If they join, they at least then can participate.

Let me think about it a little more...

Maybe I am just anxious waiting for Santa, but I am not following this. Are you saying that someone needs to be logged in to a forum to see pictures? I know there is a forum that charges you $20/year to post images, or send a PM, but I never noticed I couldn't see pictures if I was not logged in. Of course, I always select the 'Keep me logged in option', so only rarely do I need to login.

Personally, I have never joined a forum to see a picture, but joined because there was a conversation going where I wanted to participate. I suspect more threads will result in more members, but that is easier said than done.

Also, audio seems to attract two main types of characters. Those that think everything is the same, and those that think everything matters. The problem is making sure one side does not dominate and shout down the other.

You can see all the pictures without log- in if the pic was tagged it from on-line sources ( e.g : flicker . Photo buckets , Google etc ) however if the picture was attached from your own hard drive. People without logged in wouldn't able to see them.

Also lets not forget the "Shark Tanks" we actually buy and sell some great gears time to time so please join the Audio Shark and take a full advantage. Not like some other forum we don't require to pay membership to using a PM ( also its very confidential ) or Buy & Sell stuff.
However after a while if you feel this Audioshark is world's best forum ? Please feel free to donate from top page :)

Be ever vigilant to maintain a workplace and family friendly forum. What I mean by that is restraint on what pictures are posted. I do not feel that pictures of scantily-clad and over-endowed females are appropriate. I personally find them offensive. This site is pretty good in that respect. I stopped participating in a site where the owner was one of the major offenders. I hope the powers-that-be here discourage posting inappropriate pictures.

If the photo does not pass workplace non-harassment polices it does not belong here. Think about it. Maybe a real, live woman will join the forum someday. Wow, wouldn't that be something!

How about under-endowed females?

Can you guys add the ability to remove a like or thank you? Not that it should be required often, but it would be nice to have.

Unfortunately no it won't allow us to. Sorry.
