OK guys, I'm willing to put in a bit of money in development costs to make Audioshark.org the best forum on the 'net. But I'm looking to you for suggestions. What would you like to see different? Tired of the layout/colors, want something new? Would live chat be cool? Do we need more manufacturer forums? Less? Do we need more topics on fancy watches and Ferrari's (just kidding...)?

Going into 2015, I want to continue to make Audioshark THE place to be for high end audio.

Let's hear some suggestions....

IME you can rarely go wrong with more manufacturers' forums, although they may need to be moderated (to avoid becoming free or almost free advertising). Fortunately most of the high-end manufacturers seem interested in disseminating their knowledge and enthusiasm and hope that it eventually results in more sales.

Getting more manufacturers can be a good thing if you want mor ediscussion volume and eyes on the site, however dealing with the inevitable discussions within those manufacturer sponsored forums is a bit tough, mostly because there will be the ineviateble fan-boy vs bad experience detractor arguments that will need to be handled carefully. That means more rules to be explicitely stated and followed. More headaches and more complexity will come with that kind of growth.

You've seen how it changed AC, and that is probably one of the big reasons why the shark has the people it does and why your site is becoming more popular.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.

I go to another site & they have a like button included in every post automatically when you post your reply. I think it is a great idea.

Good point. We had a few additional manufacturers participating, but they wanted me to police/ban members who spoke out against their products. I refused to do that.

IMHO - all high end audio manufacturers should be following the example James Tanner has set. Bravo to James and the entire team at Bryston for getting it!

I'm barely a casual user (I read waaay more than I post), but I think a live chat feature might be cool. No complaints on the layout or fit/finish - seems fine to me and looks unique enough to be easily distinguished from the other forums I frequent. I'm not a big fan of the social-media features, such as "like" etc. (I see it's here, but I don't recall seeing it used much.) And I am of the belief that more forums/sub-forums (perhaps more manufacturer-specific forums) tend to make things more compartmentalized and don't necessarily foster broader discussion, but I can also see how it helps to foster deeper discussion on certain topics, which is all fine and good.

Couldn't pay anyone enough to take the job! :(

At least we have good moderators on AS unlike another audio forum that's moderated by a bunch of cyber nannies who think they are running a kindergarten class.

PM to moderator from forum crybaby: So and so said nanny nanny pooh pooh to me and I'm offended.
Mod back to forum crybaby: He did? I'll fix him and suspend him for 3 days to teach him a lesson!

Mike, I'm not sure what to say except Thank You for the great job you have done so far. Thanks to Joe and Mark, also.

Thanks Mark. Every member here now is really great and our moderator job is very easy. Lately it's just getting rid of the spammers and welcoming new members.

I'd like to thank everyone for making this fun for me. I love reading/hearing about new gear, but I realize I've been a little boring lately. What can I say? I'm loving what I have and thank everyone for their help and opinions.

And, thanks to Mike. If a certain someone hadn't banned him in the first place, this may not have happened.

I don't know how much work would be required, but I'd like to see one location for the participating member dealers to list the brands they carry and their location.

Joe-I'm glad you are loving what you have because I think a little stability in your system (or anyone else's system) is a good thing.

I think the live chat might be worth a try thou I have know idea what that would cost you to set up and run.

Any easier way to post pics for the computer retarded would be nice. real nice. really nice. really really nice.

Mark, you are just too thick-skinned, and/or you don't complain the "right" way when you are insulted.
