I didn't really want to focus on brands and model #s but, rather a specific audio technology in general. For me personally #1

Network Cables - I wrote off them off numerous times.. But, in my system a full loom of MIT (interconnects/speakers_ proved to have the best synergy out of the brands I tried.

The Compact Disc- I wrote off the lowly sample rate and 16-bit resolution. "How can this sound better than 24/192, DSD, etc.. "

But.... listening to some high end transports playing a physical redbook CD made me think I was listening to a high res file, DSD etc...

Any members have similar and or different audio technologies that they wrote off in their mind; only to be proven wrong later?

The recent Class D power amps with their Class A input buffer operational amp variants.

Class D would definitely be one. Active speakers would be another (the Avantgarde Zero XD and Bryston Active system has changed my view). I guess another would be digital. I never thought digital could beat or at least equal top analog setups. MSB changed my view on that one.
