ARC Ref 10 vs CJ GAT(2) ?

Absolutely beautiful gear. Thank you for your recommendation. I’ve always been interested in Allnic Audio.

Hi Joeinid if you interesting either L7000 or L8000 DHT contact Albert Porter from audiogon or you can talk to DR. Park himself he speak english very well.

Thank you. I’ll have to see if the Ref 10 preamp works out or not.

I’m not really sure, but I can ask. I think Sunil (?) in NJ still might carry them.

Joe

Does Mark Jones still carry Allnic gear? He doesn't seem to visit the site anymore.

Hi Joe and Jack he is no more Allnic dealer since David Beetle from hammertone audio gave up for north america distributorship to Albert porter. It gave him kind of difficulty dealing with US and weak canadien dollar was not helping either. Now hammertone audio cameback for canada after few years off from audio business.

Thank you for the history and information. I didn’t realize all the changes.

I have quite a few. [emoji56][emoji56][emoji56]. Matched too. Haven’t tried them. I love the REF10 the way it comes!

Since you already have them Mike, do give them a try. I am glad Harlequin suggested them to me.

So Joe... when is the Ref 10 arriving? I am interested in your opinion... I know it is a completely different level, but I am happy I finally got an ARC pre-amp!!!

Always love hearing your experience with trying new gear :)...

Hi Randy,

I’m demoing now. It’s insane. Big, smooth, bold, tremendous 3D, wonderful musicality without any aggressive nature. It’s not ARC-like. :)

OMG... that is gorgeous!!! I truly hope it is "the one" for you my friend!

I wish the audio research label was centered like all of their other gear :D...

Yes! Visually and sonically stunning. The separate power supply is down below. The only thing is that I would have 12 tubes to replace, some at 2K hours and most at 4K hours.

Tube replacement for me would work out to be a 10-12 month exercise. A complete set from ARC is $1500 plus another $180 for another pair of 6550 from them. :(

Well if the maintenance is not too much to handle, it sounds like it is a winner. Have you checked Upscale Audio? They claim they are the only retailer that ARC recommends. They sell a higher grade tube they call ARC Select. It is supposed to be the highest tested tubes, and perfectly matched. The set I got was like $20 more then their standard high grade. Then again mine takes only 2 tubes :), hybrid... the 10 has a lot of tubes... ouch...

Congratulation Joe. Though I haven't heard the Ref 10 your description is what I heard when first push the button to unmute my 40th Anniversary pre. Absolutely stunning in every way.

Give it some time and you may not be quite as bothered by tube cost. I believe it is worth the cost of tube maintenance for the sound it delivers.

You have a fantastic array of equipment.

Brad,

Thank you so much. I am truly astounded at what the Ref 10 is doing. I actually had to move my speakers farther apart. The sound stage is HUGE! I think you are right. It's a wonderful piece.

The sound stage is truly huge but it possesses a delicate placement and properly proportioned size of vocals and instrument sounds.

For me it is like setting 25' from the band in your favorite Jazz Club. The small musical detail and sounds in the studio or live venue often take me off guard and I replay it to see if I really heard it correctly.

As is often said. Your music will all sound different. Whether it is better is your call.

The Ref 10 is absolutely bringing me closer to the music or rather I should say that the Ref 10 is bringing the music so much closer to me. It’s unlike anything else I’ve experienced. A wonderful sensation.

It’s definitely like sitting a little closer to the stage. This unit is not even broken in and gets better all the time. I’m having late night listening sessions until the wee hours. It’s affecting my daytime hours. I guess that’s a good thing. :)

Glad to hear it, Joe! It’s definitely a gorgeous unit.
