ARC REF 10 (Audio Research Reference 10) (mini) Review

Has anyone heard the Ref 10 Phono? Thinking about possibly trying the Ref 10 Pre and Ref 10 Phono.

I love my REF10. It adds a dimension of tonality that elevated my system. My REF2SE Phonostage is great too. I'm sure the ref10 phono is outstanding.

No no no guys you have it all wrong....

Gravity boots, hanging upside down from ceiling is the ticket. All that extra blood rushing to the brain helps with the hearing. View attachment 1843
OK! Really old thread, but I had to chime in because that was once one of my fantasies... A hot coed, in a nurses outfit, upside down... in gravity boots. [insert 'yummy' emoticon]

Just trolling around reading y'alls thoughts on the Ref10 :cantstoplooking:

I had the ARC 40th Anniversary Preamp and traded it for the Ref. 10. Let me begin by saying that the 40th was absolutely incredible. The best Preamp I have ever heard or owned, until now. I don't know how the boys at ARC could have bettered it, but they have. The Ref. 10 has better bass delivery and control; the mid's are richer, fuller and as real as I've experienced; and the soundstage deeper and wider (who'd a thought that was possible). The Ref. 10 has also performed better during the break-in period. I'm up to 200 hours and loving every minute. Like the 40th, the Ref. 10 loves to play with my Ayre MX-R's. It's a great pairing. Thanks for your review Mike. I concur.

My ARC boner is so hard a cat couldn't scratch it... today I am taking delivery of my new REF10 / REF75 combo. Sadly, it is going to be a while yet for setup as we're pending new paint and carpet in the music room. But the pieces are coming together, and wifey has given tentative approval for my adding the REF Phono2SE.

(My anxiety the new GS gear, with their lofty prices, will translate ti big price bumps for ARC's other gear has been heard by my sweet wife, and she's warming to an all ARC rig. -- You got it Nelson, ARC4LIFE!!!)

Congrats Bob. The REF2SE is a fabulous phonostage. And as a side....I added a ARC REF10 back into my stable yesterday. :)

It's great to hear that Fine Sounds SpA's acquisition of ARC has been a very good thing when so many have gone the other way. It's keeping my dream alive to someday have ARC in my system.

Congrats Mike, but you know what are you getting, total bliss .
I'm happy that your are back full throttle with ARC
I see G series in your near future, hahahahhah

Congrats Bob. You'll have to unbox it and drool over it now, just none on the tubes! How long will the carpet and paint take to complete? You could have gotten a deal on a REF10 that was for sale on A'gon but I think we all know where it is now, right Mike? :)
