Mike...I can only imagine how incredible the Ref10 sounds, because I am amazed by my Ref5. I got mine about the same time that you purchased yours. I have less hours on it, but it is one of my all time favorite pieces of gear. When I first put it into the system, I immediately knew that it is a system changing piece, bringing any amp that I connected it to to another level.

Bruce - I was all set to buy the REF5SE. It's a phenomenal preamp. Very resolving, warm without being syrupy. Dynamics are off the chart. What a great piece to build your system around......and the mc452 is no slouch either!

No no no guys you have it all wrong....

Gravity boots, hanging upside down from ceiling is the ticket. All that extra blood rushing to the brain helps with the hearing. ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21370975438.492030.jpg

Bruce, seeing how you've match your MC452 to an ARC makes me more anxious to try a ARC LS27 with my MC302. What other manufacturers did you have or demo before choosing the ARC?

I think Mac amps with an ARC pre offers great synergy. I'm loving my Ref 5 with the Mac 601s!

Casey - I completely agree. That wasn't always the case, but I heard some 601'a and REF5Se and was very surprised at just how good it sounded - much better than the C500 I also heard with the 601's. The 601's provide a meaty, fast sound, while the REF5SE was able to sort it all out and provide some air around the voices and instruments. Very complimentary indeed.

I'm looking forward to the SE upgrade on my Ref5 later this summer...that was the timeframe estimate anyways.

I've never had a chance to hear the REF5, but I have heard the REF5SE and was very impressed. I believe Bruce on the forum has one and he loves it. The fact that he hasn't traded it yet for something else, speaks volumes!
