Any new Esoteric owners today? Perhaps someone with a new K-05 in black, playing through his big Westministers? :)

I'm still dreaming of a K-01x.

One day...one day...

Mike.......
I enjoy my Esoteric K-03 SACD/CD/DAC. I like it so much I wound up purchasing two. The Esoteric K-03 outperformed my McIntosh MCD1100 players in direct A/B comparison. It delivers not only a more focused and delineated sound stage, a firmer and more richly textured bass frequency range, it also reproduces clearer resolution in the upper frequency range that refelcts more space between instruments and voices. In addition, the K-03 has a blacker background from which the faintest of sounds appear without being masked or smeared. I am completely satisfied with the Esoteric K-03's performance. Now that the new K-03X and K-01X players are available, pre-owned K-03's are going for $6K or there about (retail $11,650) which makes it a tremendous buy.

If a person is not interested in DSD over USB, the Esoteric K-03 is an extremely attractive value in my opinion. Since I have no interest in DSD over USB, I can still enjoy 24Bit/96KHz and 24Bit/192KHz high-res downloads over USB and get my DSD enjoyment from SACD's. It is simpler, doesn't gorge my hard drive with huge files, and sounds equally thrilling. The Esoteric K-03 represents the sweet spot in performance and value for me.

I think Esoteric are coming out with X models for the K-05 and K-07 this summer. I am going to give those a look, prolly K-05X as I like the idea of an integrated CD/SACD player with digital inputs, allowing use with a PC or music server as source as well. Seems to me to allow max flexibility in terms of digital sources including spinning both CD and SACD discs.

That's beautiful - like jewelry.

I was all set to go with the Esoteric, until T+A announced the PDP3000HV with completely separate sections for PCM and DSD (requiring even separate power cords and IC's). I'm very happy with it, but I'm certain I would have been equally happy with a K-01/03.

Mike.......There is no help for you. . :D

Oh Dan...if you only knew how much ribbing Mike gets here on AS for his audiophilia nervosa? :D

I don't know what you're talking about. I'm the normal one. [emoji14]

Cyril - I have a K-05. It's been a nice player and I don't have plans to replace it. But, frankly, I use the server over 90% of the time. I find the Lumin S-1 to be a much more musical digital source. Hope that helps...

Thx!

My Esoteric D-02, using as a preamp direct to my amp.

The digital inputs for the USB and Optical work flawlessly.

But for the last few months, the digital RCA1 and RCA2 inputs keep cutting out sporadically (on for a minute, cuts out for several seconds, on again).
At first I thought it might be 1 of the digital RCA inputs, but it seems both are doing the same thing?

Do you think this is something in the DA circuit that is doing this, or something that needs to be changed in the Menu options?
I am puzzled why the other digital inputs work fine, but both digital RCA inputs are cutting in and out?
I am getting the same intermittent cutting out when it is connected to my DVD/BlueRay player and my DirecTV (both RCA digital out to the D-02).
Have tried different cables and sources.

Any suggestions?

About to pull the trigger on a used Esoteric DV60. I won’t use this for video, but I think it is an excellent SACD and redbook player. Since I am primarily an analog devotee, this multi use machine...which is built like a tank, will meet my needs...plus the price these go for nowadays is a steal, imo.

Hi All

I am contemplating purchasing an Esoteric DAC. I have a choice. Brand New DO5X or used DO2. Which would be better. Running Aurender N10, JC1, BW803D, Kubaal Emotions, Running Springs Dimitri

thanks
