Another Hypex NC-500 based amp unveiled

It's pretty nostalgic in my books ...

A trip back to 1953 in a Delorean would be a high fidelity fantasy land for some. Just imagine R2R on every street corner electronics shop. Better tube amp's than are even available today due to better tube availability. And none of this nonsense digital and class D to spoil a guys day :)

For the most part, I've stopped posting about the LP's (yes, vinyl) I spin almost daily but suffice to say, these NORD amps really do produce the LP goodness when doing so.

Tonight I'm listening to some mono classical records (right now...a Capitol pressing of the Schumann Quintet in E Flat, Hollywood String Quartet with Victor Allen, Piano - P8316) via my Miyajima Zero cart, Auditorium A23 SPU SUT, Sentec EQ-11 phono (w/ 1950's Swedish Military NOS 5751 Sylvania Triple Mica Black Plate & CBS 7318) into an Aesthetix Calypso Signature linestage and then into the NORD One UP Mono amps and finally on to Canton Ergo Passiv loudspeakers. It doesn't suck.

I'm sold.

Awesome news! You have my favourite dual discrete opamp in there right now so it should sound pretty damn good!

Since there's a few guys on here now with the Nords, you guys should just swap opamps for a month or so at a time. Get about 10 different opamps or so in circulation. Go on a new adventure every month. Take mental notes, and share results! :)

Good idea!

Have to say it looks great! But 4K!!
The idea of you all swapping Op Amps fills me with trepidation:| Blown buffers!

Looking at the NC 400 data sheet Hypex have two pages (14-15) dedicated to microprocessor functions and a self test flow chart. These pages are missing from the NC500 and NC500MP data sheets. I assume that the OEM modules also have some sort of self test functions built in? Can one of the OEM posters here confirm? If not, how are the OEM modules protected? Just curious.

Thanks for the welcome. Good to be here. I see I've reopened an old thread, hope someone will respond.
