Alternative Remotes

Can anyone recommend, a different remote...that I can use to control the volume on my K-5xe MP?

The unit I bought, came with this mammoth hunk of metal.



Great remote, for those who a) have multiple pieces of Ayre gear, and/or b) like a big, solid, heavy remote; they can sit on a table and never worry about it moving on them.

But neither of those, describes me. Or perhaps someone would like to trade, for something more friendly in the hand?

Is the Ayre a recent purchase? If so, SWEET!

I've gotten use to an older model Harmony remote for both of my systems and so far haven't found a model of audio gear that it can't control (assuming a piece has it's own remote to start). The model I've been using is the Harmony 520 which isn't small, but it is lightweight. You can find them on eBay all day long for $15-$35 or so if you're patient. There may be other Harmony remotes that are better or more current, but the 520 is easy to use.

Thanks for the tip on Harmony; I wasn't sure if universals, would work with a brand like Ayre. I guess beggars can't be choosers; and you're not going to find a "universal" remote, with just a few buttons. But all I need...is volume up and down.

I just checked and the Ayre K-5xeMP is in the Harmony database for commands. In fact, I just added the preamp to my list of devices as a test.
