Alpinist (Ken) - how is your new system?

Gorgeous Ken! Wow. I love that finish on the Vandy 7's.

Thanks guys! I love the finish of the speakers and the way they reflect the light. They disappear in low light but shine beautifully when the sunlight hits them.

I've been working on tidying up the system and cables today, and it finally looked worthy of some photos.

Ken. I think there is also room for a Lampizator. You are welcome to come and hear my Big 7 with the WE 300b tubes I just put in.

really classy looking speakers. interesting how close they are to walls. what is the piece on the bottom left ? you are using Mac mini for computer audio? side note i am auditioning cardas clear IC from cable co. burning in; tonight will be around 50 hours. but last night listening just ok. lots of bass and not well controlled. midrange nice. uppers a bit bright and voices lower and deeper back in soundstage. timbers were out on loan so will try those when available.

Ed,

It's an Audience AR6-TSSOX power conditioner. Yes, I'm still running the Mac Mini for computer audio but I spin a lot of CDs and SACDs with my K-01X player. I'm eventually planning on getting a music server but the Mac Mini is surprisingly good with the WW Platinum 7 USB cable.

Best,
Ken

I bit the bullet again and ordered some matching Vandersteen M7-HPA monoblock amplifiers for my Vandersteen 7 MkII speakers. These are some very special sounding amps that should produce tremendous synergy with my speakers.

Congrats Ken!! What is the ETA on these beauties?

Thanks Leroy!! The initial word is 2 - 3 months. After seeing the build quality and complexity of these beasts, I understand why. They are hewn out of solid billets of aluminum, all active circuitry is mounted on a floating truss, they are liquid cooled to optimize the operating temperature of the output transistors and they have ten separate power supplies. The amps weigh a hefty 120 pounds each.

You got the whole family Ken, looks like good times ahead

Thanks Kev! I'm stoked. Check out the Selling Forum. Some nice matching Soulution 501 monoblocks for your 520 preamp. Think how nice they would look on your rack! :D

Congrats Ken! An awesome system you are putting together. Just focus on the music...should be sublime.

Thanks Mike! I think the decision to go with the Vandersteen monoblocks is key to getting the fullest potential out of the speakers. I think the remaining pieces shouldn't be too difficult.

Best,
Ken

Ken, Looking forward to your Soulution/Audio Research comparison. I suspect it'll be closer than you think.
