What's everyone predicting? Doesn't have to be in 2021.

A series seems complete.

I'm guessing the S line will be updated to Mk3.

M1 to replace the Q1

Anyone else ?

I’m wondering the same thing. Guessing M1? S7 mk2?

I don't think we will ever see S7 mk 2, as the S7 already used all the technologies from S3 mk 2 / S5 mk 2, apart from the convex top. I have even talked about this with Alon Wolf when S3/S5 came as mk 2 models, but I got an impression he didn't want to piss of the current S7 owners or his dealers. That was at a time Magico was getting a lot of beating for changing their models too frequently.

IMO they may want to introduce the new aluminum heneycomb midrange diaphram from the A5 in the next S series.

M3 mk 2 with a full CF monocock (based on the M2 and M6 models) is also likely. We may also see the heneycomb diaphram tech introduced here.

I thought they just increased prices!

I've read similar , as of 3/1/21.

The A5 was the best buy (IMHO) of all high end audio at is previous price.

I'm not in the market so, I dare won't ask what the A5 is now.

I bet these increases are to make way for the S Mark 3 line.

Magico seems to bring out a loudspeaker, then increases prices across the board a year a or so later.

That being said, if one was buying a Magico, it make sense to buy it in the initial launch window.

Magico explained that market conditions over the past year affected raw material costs: Neodymium (+ 68%), Copper (+ 26%), Aluminum (+ 11%) and Iron (+ 77%). In addition, freight costs for inbound parts shipments to Magico increased by (+ 47% average) for Air freight and (+ 25% average) for Ocean freight.

Magico gave all dealers a month to wrap things up at the old pricing. That was helpful. We ordered 3 pairs of A5’s at old pricing for inventory. We also sold a lot of A1’s, A3’s and A5’s for folks who were on the fence.

We are seeing price increases across the board from Magico, Boulder, Shunyata, Harbeth (40.3’s are now nearly $25K) and others. Then MSB price decreases.

Thanks for sharing Mike.

I see room under the for M2 for an M1 speaker.

Given that the S line has no price increase and the S3 is out of stock.

I'm betting the Mark 3 series is launched in 2021.

Thx for the details Mike. The shocker to me is the Harbeth 40.3s at $25K!

In my opinion, Magico’s biggest challenge is their speaker line updates keeping pace with their technological updates. For instance, the A5, a loudspeaker in their lowest line has more advanced speaker cone technology than all of their “S” line and nearly all of their “M” line (excluding the M9).

While it would be nice to see them update from the top down, starting with the M6, it would probably make better economic sense to update the “A” and “S” lines first, as these updates could be completed without any changes to the existing speaker cabinet design. With the “M” line, they will probably want to update each cabinet by changing the sides to carbon - aluminum honeycomb - carbon sandwich to reduce their carbon costs. The M3 will require the biggest update because it will need to move to the monocoque cabinet and get the new sides too.

There won't be an upgrade path for M3 owners like there was for Q7 owners. The technology has come too far in that time.

I really don’t see the M3 needing/getting an update any time soon. I just don’t. At least for 2-3 years, if not more. The M3 was just reviewed and received a stellar rating.

MAGICO M3

i'm guessing that their dealer feedback on customer intentions will be a significant factor driving this process. they might need to slow walk things (tech advances) for proper buying cycles and not mess too much with the price/value equation. Wilson faces the same issues.

my comments are not intended to be cynical, just reality. in the car business hitting product cycle tech advances (with a 4-5 year major model change planning process) just right is everything. a company is betting billions with a 'B'.

Considering the immense musical enjoyment and pleasure I get from his brilliant work, I'm not sure anything Alon Wolf does, or could do, would ever seriously "piss" me off. As far as a S7mkII? I would welcome and update to my favorite Magico.

A3 is 14k now ? Wow. I remember it was 10k just 2-3 years ago.

Yes. When it was $9990 we were really seeing some different customers. Folks really stretching to upgrade from their PSB’s and Paradigms and Focal Aria’s and Revels and similar.

Once it got over $10k, we didn’t see as much as that.

I think the A5 remains the killer product for the money.
